Are the new 2011 IS-F headlights darker than the 08's?

They certainly will fit, but you will have two issues to deal with.
1) DRL wiring/placement. In the 08-10 housings, your DRL is linked to your high beams whereas the '11 models use the LED strip as DRLs.
2) AFS is no longer available on '11 models. So AFS light will stay on for 08-10 models as an error.
Also, '11 ISF headlamp housings are identical to all '11 IS models with HID option. Non HID option '11 IS models retain the old style projector setup with dark chrome housing. LED DRL's are not available for those with halogen headlamps.

thanks Ryan for the input!
I already have a DRL bypass relay harness wired up for my current setup so that should be the easy part - I will just have to re-route some of the OEM wiring "IF" I wanted the LED strip to act as OEM but in my case I plan to have it wired differently via remote.
Quite honestly as I stated in my other post, I never even noticed the effect of having "AFS" on my 08 - it's not a feature I really care for so losing it won't be an issue for me.
My main thing is I really like the black inner housing and once I smoke those amber lenses it should look quite mean! I'm not sure if it's because I'm running 8k D4S bulbs right now but I think the light output of my IS-F sucks in comparison to my old GS400. The IS-F light seems really weak, I'm going to switch back to 6000k to see if I gain any light output. Ironically on my M3, going to 8k had no effect on light output but it seems the IS-F has horrible output.

Switching to a 6k bulb will only make your visibility worse. Higher K output doesn't mean better illumination. 42-4300K oem spec has superior lighting output to 5K or greater. You are better off re-aiming your headlamps higher.
