valet at the hotel did a joy ride in my car...should i do anything?
I went to a hotel party for new years, and usually before i give the keys to some douche bag wearing a red vest i usually memorize the mileage on my B trip, the gas needle, and the Tank to empty reading.....
B trip meter before the party 436.8
B trip the next day when I went to retrieve it 484.9
tank needle was a under 3/4 and reading 207 till empty
gas needle exactly the same spot
tank reading to empty --- exactly 207
not only the little ***** filled up my tank but he thought he was slick and recorded the tank reading...
I was soooo pissed off that I created a scene. They assured me that no cars were taken off the lot. I ask for cameras... and the manager told me that cameras view only cars leaving and going the self parking lot....damn a holes!!!!! Im thinking of suing but I have no proof except for my memory. please helpwhich I know I am right

for those 50 or so miles, you do not know what couldve happened. he couldve WOT'd, done some errands on your ride when he didnt have one to use, or whatever. id be pissed as hell too. that is always a risk when you valet. but even though he filled the tank (supposedly), i still would be uneasy considering the mileage differed so greatly. i doubt the self parking garage was 25 miles away and on the way back, leading to about a 50 mile change in the odometer.

^^ agreed ive never let anybody drive my car let alone valet.. ive had a few friends that did valet parking and man the stories ive heard. ive always self parked. funny story.. me and my wife goes to the casinos in atlantic city. she always valet when she drives and i always tell her never to valet cuz they dont know how to treat your car. so one day we go again and i drive and self park. next thing we know we hear tires breaking loose and car comes flying past us. she looks at me and was shocked. i was like oh yea thats valet parking for ya! ever since then shes always self parked hahah.

Man thats some bs. I never let valet's drive my car I always self park because a friend of mine was one and they def rag on cars. If I go somewhere where I can put it up front I just do that and tell them not to touch my car. More then likely nothing happened to your F. Even if he popped it off the rev limiter a few times it will be fine. If anything wrong pops up soon I would def go back and demand they take care of it.

Nothing you can do, try to forget it. I don't valet cars really but if I happen to valet the GT or something I will usually look at the guy and simply say "hey I know the miles, no joyrides, alright?" That seems to work.

Nothing you can do unless your car was damaged. Besides, assuming you did not misread the odometer when you left them the car, it may not even have been the valet who took your keys who drove your car. Chalk it up to a lesson learned and don't let it spoil any more of you time. Personally, I regard valet parking as a convenience and relatively easy recourse for me if my car is damaged upon return. [I once had the awful experience of parking my car myself in a "good spot" only to find it badly damaged when I returned. A homeless person who was there informed me and the police that a woman driving a rental truck had run into my car, stopped, and then drove off.]

if it said 207 miles to empty with that much fuel left, he didn't burn rubber or gun it. If I drive real hard, I can have a FULL tank and it'll say a low number. The miles to empty takes into account driving pattern. So, he not only took it for a joy ride, he took it for a joyride and drove it exactly how you drive. LOL

No matter how many people valet their cars...even expensive exotics, I never valet my car. My good friend's car got stolen in the hands of a valet when he went to a club in LA. I've never been a fan of valets but because of that incident, I always park the car myself, even if I have to pay a bit more.
