Take it to the dealer. It shouldn't have caused any problems, but that doesn't mean it didn't, and the techs there should be able to get to root cause pretty quickly. Before you make a warranty claim, check the owner's manual for jump start procedures and be sure you followed them when you gave the jump.
If it were me, I'd probably have been giving the wife's car a jump, not some random stranger.
Instructions how to jump start safely for your car:
1. keep your car running
2. conect both batteries with cables
3. still keep your car running (could rew little bit more)
4. turn off your car and then give comand to "dead" car to start engine
5. disconent cables, and turn your car back on
Some notices:
>Idea of doing this, is because when your power generator is charging your battery u cannot let other car try start their engines while connected, because generator could be damaged at that moment.
>some cars, that have batteries in trunk, have connections of "+" and "-" in front, though, when engine is off, usualy they have no power, so you should connect directly to battery.
