Default clear bra and window tinting

hi, finally have my IS F. 08' silver with black interior. I love the car. Totally different experience from my 07' GS 350 that i was driving. I also like the interior much better. It just seems sturdier.
I've heard that the IS in general gets scratches and paint chips because of how low it is to the ground. Is it smart to invest in a clear bra? Any brands people can suggest?
Also, anyone know where i can get tinting and the clear bra done in Northern/Central NJ (i live in the Livingston area). Thanks in advance.

The front of the IS F bumper is no different than any other bumper on any car. It will get rock chips no matter what. Because the front is a little lower that some, you have a greater chance of scraping the underside of the bumper at curbs, parking blocks, steep driveways and etc. Clear bra will help protect from rock chips and such, but it depending on how bad you scrape the lower bumper portion, chances are it will cut through the film.

Congrats on your IS F. I too came from an 07 GS350.

do you think its worth the investment? Also, would you recommend getting it on the front bumper, hood, side mirrors and rear bumper? Thanks for the help.

I highly recommend it. I've had clear bra on my previous Lexus vehicles.

Clear bra in my opinion is always a good investment because you avoid the chips and scratching which can sometimes turn into an expensive fix. I recommend 3M they make a good clear bra for virtually any car. The more protection you can get on your investment the better it is.

Yes its worth it if you plan to keep the F for a while or own it out right!!

Here's what I got done:

30" Hood, 30" Fenders, Front Bumper, Lower part of fenders with entire side skirts, side view mirrors, door cups, head & fog lights..

Rear bumper is a bit overkill, unless you parallel park a lot..

I would definitely get a clear bra put on. I have 3M film that was put on by my dealer when I purchased the car and I will go with something different next time (only had the F a year and it's feeling and turning yellow). You might want to check out ventureshield.com for a dealer in your area

Get a clearbra! Best investment ever. I wish I put it on when I first got the car - I wouldn't have had to repaint the bumper!

Full hood and fenders are a bit overkill in my opinion. I've done just fine with partial hood and fenders and full bumper. The whole point of getting clear bra is to protect the areas more exposed to rock chipping, not the panels that are literally parallel to the ground. Aerotect has done all my installs with Ventureshield film. 3M owns Ventureshield for those that don't know, but 3M still has their own proprietary line of automotive films as well.

to me the reason to do full hood is to eliminate that line across the hood. i agree protection wise the upper part won't help much

I recommend getting the full hood done as well, for 1. the piece of mind knowing its all protected, even though the top part will rarely be used and 2. you don't have the distracting line where the clear bra ends on the middle of the hood of your car. I also have ventureshield from Aerotect.
