Problems with Direct Fuel Injection Engines
Check this out.....

I wonder if we will be ok since we have both direct and port injection, the latter will clean out the gunk????

No warning coming here. If you link to a site arguing about the M3 and the IS-F and how someone is going to "set the record straight" and asking other board members to register on the other site so they can join in the argument, yes, you surely will get a warning.
From my experience with my IS350 I doubt this is a big issue because we have both DI and PI. I've long wondered why the 4GR-FE in the IS250 had issues with oil fuel dilution, and this discussion seems to go straight for the throat about dilution and carbon deposits. I almost wish I still had my 350 so I could pull off the intake and look for build up - it had almost 60k on it when I traded it in. Regardless, I did sufficient oil analysis on the 350 to determine there was no significant oil dilution from fuel even with 10k mile oil changes. My F is coming up quickly on the 5k oil change and I'll be pulling a sample to send to Blackstone just before I take it in for the free oil change. So, I'll have a clear picture of what is happening with the engine. I'll also be changing to Mobil 1 5w-30, so I'll build up a database of information about my particular engine as it wears.
In the end, thanks for the link to this discussion. There's also a link to BITOG with even more information. Great stuff!
