Thumbs down So much for Lexus reliability!

So I guess the law of averages finally had to catch up with some IS F owners....I'm just severely po'd that it had to be me.

It's 4 am right now, and I am posting this after spending the last several hours getting my F loaded up on a flat bed to be trucked back to the dealership in the city.

My wife and I had gone out tonight for dinner and then headed out to the casino. Car drove fine to and from dinner so nothing seemed out of the ordinary. We spent a couple hours at the casino and when we came out I noticed that it seemed like the lights were still on. That seemed weird, so I checked and they weren't. I popped the hood and discovered that the fan was still running. Needless to say, there wasn't enough power to start the car, but somehow there was enough power to run the fan continuously. (It was still on when the flatbed left). The F is being taken to the tow company's compound for a couple days until they can get it into the dealership Monday morning.

I became even more angry after being told by Lexus roadside that we were on our own to find a way home. We were 45 km from our town, in the middle of freakin' nowhere. Their explanation was that yes, we did have coverage for transportation home....but only if we were 80 km or more away. What a load of bs!

We'll see what happens on Monday after I chat with the dealership and Lexus of Canada. As a side note, I still don't have the whole caliper gouging issue resolved with both of the Alberta dealerships. Ironically, I have test drives on Monday with both BMW and Benz.

Sorry for the long winded rant, but I am extremely frustrated at the moment. If I was ok dealing with crap like this I would be driving an M3 instead.

I'm guessing it's a Canada thing.

I don't understand why you didn't just jump-start it and drive it home. The alternator would put out more than enough current to keep it running and would probably have recharged the battery during your drive home. You could have then disconnected the battery until Monday morning when you could have reconnected it and driven it to the dealer. Did I misunderstand?

With respect... that misses the point of his thread.

His car broke down. Lexus has a well deserved reputation for: (1) not breaking down in the first place and then (2) taking care of its customers.

There are two sides to every story but if what the OP posted is true, and why wouldn't it be, shame on Lexus of Canada.

We have owned Lexus literally since the beginning and have nothing but good things to say about the product. We have experienced some excellent dealers, some good dealers and one so so dealer but nothing bad at all.

I hope Lexus of Canada pulls it's proverbial head out and makes it right for the OP.

Sorry to hear that. Unfortunately, even though statistically Lexus is more reliable, they're not perfect either. Knock on wood - I haven't had any issues besides a little creaking noise in the dash when it gets close to 0 degrees F.

LOL I guess you guys never owned a BMW or Benz

Reality is it can happen to any car brand - no reason to complain so much! I would have jump started it or fix it first, if nothing else works then call Roadside as a last resort.

I do agree Lexus should have assisted with transportation!

I would suggest you stop complaining since all cars can/will break someday - just fix it and move on.

Yes,I agree with you and know that. I've posted many times before that every manufacturer will have some issues. I was just mad that it had to be my F.

As to just jumping it. Umm...no. First of all, there has to be a reason that the electrical system failed in the vehicle and I wasn't about to boost it. Who's to say that jumping it couldn't have made whatever is wrong worse or even corrected the issue. I wasn't about to take that chance. Maybe being a little over cautious, but I felt the dealer needs to look at it as is.

This is the first significant issue that I am aware of (I hope no one else has had anything serious) with an F.

I would have been considerably less angry had Lexus Roadside just dealt with getting us home. I find it ridiculous that they told us that we had coverage, but only if we were more than 80 km away. Didn't make sense that since we were 45 km away, isolated in the middle of nowhere, we were on our own to get home.

Anyways, like I said, we'll see what happens on Monday. Between the dealers and the calipers and now this, I don't know what to think anymore. Of course, I will give them the opportunity to make it right and hopefully Lexus' legendary customer service finally shines through.

Sorry to hear about that! Interesting how the fan was running and the lights weren't on, please keep us updated about what the dealership says and what the problem is That is unfortunate about Lexus not getting a ride for you, I'd have a talk with some of the managers at your dealership about it then if you don't get any response and it's still upsetting, it might be worth talking to Lexus customer service about it

Check if Lexus has what is called TRIP INTERRUPTION. I know Mercedes-Benz has it and it's a pain in the *** to deal w/ but it works in the end. You just have to cry enough and you'll get the compensation.

That suck about your ride (was it cold out), I'm going to find out about that 80km stuff cause I have the same protection.

Sure you could have jump started it, who's to say that would have worked or if it would have down more damage - driving it home after that.

A buddy owns a volvo jeep on his way out of town his brakes messed up (somehow), but he kept driving cause he's in the middle of know where and it's in the middle of the night.

Well turns out, Volvo wouldn't pay or warrante the rotors and brakes that needed to be replaced, because he kept driving and didn't stop and call for a tow. He sent letters to the president etc. ..no response.

It's unfortunate it happened but, Lexus is still quite reliable compared to other brands, and it has quality materials.

What's the last 4 digits of your vin, just curious.
