Default Oil consumption question.....

So has anyone had their oil low light come on as they were approaching the end of 5000 miles?

Just had my 5,000 oil change and no light. This was my second oil change as I flushed my oil at 1,000 miles as well...

Go with Royal Purple.. It costs about $7.50 per qt, very pricey, but probably one of the best syns on the market.

I did my first oil change at 1000 miles with Mobil 1, no oil light of course!

It is about $6 a qt at the walmart over here and a 5 qt jug of Mobil 1 is $22, just incase some of you more frugal owners, like me, are looking to save some cash.

I had done some long distance driving a month ago and my oil low light came on. Perhaps it's the long distance and the heat that had me burning more oil than normal.

Did you follow the break-in procedure? Seems a little strange to be burning oil this early on..

yes I did follow the break in procedure. I never drove the car hard during break in and varied my revs. The only thing is when this did happen it was after a long trip. I know the engine gets pretty hot and perhaps made the oil thinner? (not sure of thinner is the right word)
