Default IS-F top speed?

I was wondering what the top speed of the IS-F would be. Just curious.

What I was told by at the time General Manager and VP of Lexus Division Bob Carter, 160mph back in Detroit earlier this year at the world debut.

Hmmm...at the recent Taste of Lexus event in Arcadia, I was told by the Lexus guy that he was able to get up to 160 mph but he did not confirm whether or not this was the top speed.

If the IS 350 is aerodynamically limited to 167 mph, then the F should be limited to 167 mph. Unless the shark gills behind the front wheels are functional. I'm kind of with ride450, 155 mph is the accepted Autobahn electronic speedlimiter setting.

If the IS350 is drag limited to 167.... then the 100 extra hp in the IS-F will increase its it beyond 167

I thought if something was aerodynamically limited, no matter how many horsepower you have you can't go any faster than that speed because of the resistance to air.

No. Drag limit is balance between power and drag. Increased power will raise the drag limit, but it will take a lot of power to raise it significantly.

Sorry to bring back a dead thread, but what is the theoretical top speed of the IS-F if the limiter was removed. It can hit the limited top speed of 170 in 6th at 6450rpm, what can it get in 8th with an overall gear ratio of 2.01:1
170 in 8th is at 4400 rpm, leaving 2200 rpm if the limiter were removed.
Do you think it'll have enough torque to push much faster? 180?

I've heard from reviews that the top speed is 168 mph. I know for a fact it is not limited at 155, via electronics or aerodynamically. I have got to 140 fairly easily and can say from experience, it has way more engine left.

THis is a very old thread, and by now Lexus has already released information on the top speed of the IS-F... and that is 170mph(electronically limited).

I would like to know this as well. I also read somewhere that w/o the limiter, the LS can hit 170mph

The ISF is electronically limited to 172 mph. If you remove the limiter the car can reach a drag limited top speed of 186 mph, it was mentioned in an interview with the ISF designer.
