i test drop the new m3, meh, its not for me. there are ignorant ppl, who havent experience the IS-F, on that forum, hence why i tend not to go to e90post very often.

So I just wanted to show those boys what a stock vs. stock race would look like. And then, all hell broke loose!

Honestly, I really don't care about the bashing/flaming. It's an anonymous forum - it happens. They're very proud of their cars and the fact that they have great modding potential for little money. Heck, if I could add another 100+ HP to my IS-F for only 2K, I'd do it... if it didn't void my warrantee and gave me CEL lights.

I'm not really trolling - I'm a car enthusiast like most guys here. I like to read about all cars but when I feel there is a need to correct misinformation, I do.

In any case, I'm really enjoying the car! Just not at the dragstrip. LOL. So, I'm going to try something different - I'm going to that track experience thing and this time, I got a Gtech RR timer and going to install a video in my car. I'll record the pro driver and then I'm going to record me driving it. My goal for my first track experience will be to go at 90% of the lateral G forces of the pro driver. Anybody interested in the vids possibly?
Keep the vids coming.....we don't have racetrack here in hawaii, so the closest thing is to watch it online and enjoy it But I've probably seen most of the IS-F vids and each one was very entertaining.....btw did you end up post the video at the track with you and the M3 (his first track drive). Haven't seen it popped up....would love to see what those bimmer guys would say about that....

Let them say what they want about the IS-F or the M3. At the end of the day, half of them are just 18 year olds with 335i's who don't know jack squat about the M3 or IS-F. All they know how to do is read biased articles that praise the M3 b/c it went faster around a track by 4 seconds. If 4 seconds justifies 10k then be my guest.

I personally have raced my friends M3 coupe with my IS-F and I pulled on him in places and he pulled a bit on me in places. The cars are so even it comes down to the little things when deciding which each individual person likes more. I'll have some unbiased vids up for you Club Lexus peeps to see hopefully in the next week and then we can pass judgements. Stay classy San Diego.

ToothDoc..
i have a question, since you have owned both a 350 and a IS-F and their quarter mile times are so close,
as far as driving experience, is there anything about the car that feels faster? from the looks of the numbers i am not really sure what would make me want to get the f other than the transmission..
the sales guy here in the colorado springs area got to drive one to the car show recently and he said it had a lot more grunt but that is not very consistant with the track times i have seen, i am beginning to wonder if the extra weight causes the car to be slower than you would expect for the HP and TQ the 5.0 L has.
can you give us some feedback?

Sorry I can't make the meet this weekend. I'll be out of town until the following weekend then home for good. Sorry to disappoint.

I have found that there are a lot of people on several forums that bash other maunufaturers...owners....companies...etc. Maybe they don't have anything better to do with there time? Maybe they don't have anything to add and get frustrated with themselves, so they take it out at someone elses expense. Either way, it makes it interesting and we should thank them for the humor! LOL

I feel all 100HP difference! Keep in mind that my best IS350 times I had perfect launch, great weather, etc. etc. Look at the trap - 105 vs. 110. It's probably more like 103 vs 110. But, dragstrip aside... In first gear, with traction off, if I'm rolling at say 15 mph or even 10 mph and I hit the gas, I'll leave little black lines which I could never do with the IS350. I'll also spin quite a bit between the 1/2 shift whereas my IS350 did a little chirp occasionally. My 3rd gear acceleration is almost as strong as 2nd gear acceleration on the IS350 IMO. First gear acceleration is similar simply due to gearing/traction limitations. Using the GT2 timer, I get about .65 G for both cars in first gear. The IS-F gets into .5x G in second gear while the IS350 is .4x G so you start walking away after about 35 mph (after first gear).

Besides the power, the braking is fantastic - the IS350 had great brakes, but the IS-F has even better brakes! The ride is totally harder/stiffer etc. No more rolls during the turn - it could be a bad thing or good thing depending on what you like. It already has a great CAI and exhaust is also louder. I personally like quite rides so I don't plan on removing mufflers or cats.

Initially, I was skeptical that an IS-F should cost 15K more than a similarly equipped IS350 but if you factor in 100HP (5K), brakes, intake, exaust (3K), transmission (2K at least?), BBS forged wheels and PS2 tires (2K more), etc. etc. The 15K is worth it then.

The video of M3 coupe w/muffler delete vs. IS-F isn't up yet cuz the guy who filmed it hasn't emailed me yet.

However, it's not really a good video cuz I launched poorly and he launched even worse. FWIW, I got him by 1 mph trap speed though. At the end of the day, when comparing best vs best, I think he was faster by 1 mph or so. He didn't post his timeslips or his videos so I'm not sure of the exact numbers. When I get it, I'll post it.

I would just leave well enough alone. Everyone is going to have an opinion about all cars. You guys do know it's against forum rules to engage in cross forum arguments.
