Thanks for the post, I always wanted to see that car with the covers off, it barely fits under the hood. Man, that is a lot of hoses and wire looms.

saw it in person at jdm theory, very nice

i was surprised how it's quite different from the ls460 setup. especially the front intake, it's only single channel rather than dual channel like the ls460. maybe it's space issues again

its far cheaper to just put an engine cover on instead of spending resources designing how the hoses, wires, lines will run in such a way it looks nice. Sounds like a pain in the *** to route everything. On nice looking engines when a line/hose/wire breaks and its buried deep down somewhere because it was routed to make the engine look nice, theres always a trade off

Clean and nice looking does not necessarily equate to buried and hard to find.
GT-R engine bay:

I would say it would be more difficult to work on the IS-F engine than any of the others pictured in this thread.

how would it be harder when the piece is right in front of you and right on top of the engine instead of hidden for asthetic reasons Most certainly the pictured hoses on the ferrari engine isnt the last of them, no telling how many parts you have to disassemble just to get down to a hose. Any engine is going to have a nest of wires/hoses/lines either in plain view or not

4tehnugyen your right! My close buddie is a tech for lambo/aston martin in beverly hills! All he does is complain about how many body parts and panels have to be removed to replace components and etc! Especially a lotus! I've seen many demo cars he brings home for test drives and boy they are a pain to work on! That's why they charge soooo much even just for an oil change! For me the isf looks a lot pain free! LOOKS IS NOT EVERYTHING UNDER THE HOOD! I want an isf!!! Juss my 2 cent!

There is no doubt the IS-F engine will never win any beauty awards with the cover off. The LS engine looks similar too.

I mean, people here RARELY take them off anyway, most paint or mod the engine cover.

It would have been nice to have the nice looking engine bays as the GErmans or Italians.

It is as nice as the Germans and Italians. Just leave the cover on.

It never ceases to amaze me what a powerful tool marketing can be.

It doesnt hurt if the engine could looks a bit more put together and appealing, but that shouldnt take away from the great power that it contains ;O.

The reason why the German and Italian motor layouts are "prettier" is due to the frequent maintenance. The mechanics want something nice to look at.
