Default Ride Quality

One thing that disturbed me from the reviews form C&D and Edmunds was that the "ride" was rough in short travel. Does anyone have any first hand knowlege or more information regarding that ??? Thanks guys !!

C&D said this:
At leisure speeds, the air is hushed, Lexus-like, with just a distant snort from the engine and the extra thrum of the fat summer Michelins disturbing the peace. Given the low profile of the rubber mounted to the 19-inch forged aluminum rims, the ride is tightly controlled but commendably mellow. The ride-and-handling balance is perhaps the IS F’s biggest achievement. It makes allowances for road fissures and drops the body into holes with cushioned lurches.

its meant for simply to be a performance car... I wouldnt mind having rough ride quaility if the performance makes up for it... unlike the SCs

I've just finished driving the IS-F on various conditions, from high speed race track, two lane highway and lots of inclines and twisties. The IS-F is a bit bumpy on some road conditions but for the most part it's very compliant. I will elaborate more on it soon.

Hypothetically:

Heavier car + tighter suspension + thinner tires = harsher ride.

If you want Lexus comfort over performance, the IS350 edges away from it. The IS-F crosses that edge...

Take a look at motortrends video during the twisties in the mountains. It is a STIFF ride and as hes saying it look at the cameras movement, you can tell it picks up all the little bumps but I for one am willing to sacrifice that even though I live in the Pothole State and Manhattan roads are from like the 1890's.....

That is a very good observation. I also noticed the camera movement. It's clear this car has a serious sport-tuned suspension created for enthusiasts.

You can do a 105 second burnout before you have to buy new tires!

They said it also had short suspension travel. this means the suspension bottoms out easier than a car with long travel. This is bad and will be very scary if the car ever bottoms out while cornering. I have noticed my IS 250 with teins has short travel as well. Too bad they made the car with the same suspension geometry. Heck the car doesn't really handle all that great with 200hp I can't imagine it with 400+. oh well I want a GTR or a Porsche TT anyways, anything else is childs play.

Just because a car has short suspension travel doesn't mean it will bottom out easily . . . just for ex. think of having a rock solid suspension, with no play sort of like no suspension it will never bottom out but you will kill urself at 60 over a hole, if it has a short travel but is very stiff it will bottom out no more than a regular suspension you will just feel it in ur *** when you go over a bump

Think progressive suspension, not linear suspension.
