If you assume the same specs per liter, then the hp rating would be

1.4286 * 306 (IS350 rating) = 437 hp

437 hp is my guestimate from a previous post (using your reasoning). I'm not sure how you came up with 426 hp. Maybe if you don't round the liters the way I did, and use more exact numbers you get that number.
I used the same cylinder volume the IS350 has and just upped the liters to 5.0. I played around with a Dyno Horsepower calculator I have until my ratio was the same for both motors. I`m guessing they (lexus) will stick with whats working for the 350 and use it for the F. If the numbers come in less I`d say less compression. Higher I`d say more stroke, same compresson

(306hp/3.5L -> IS350...2GR FSE),

87 hp/L * 5.0L = 435hp

Keep in mind that with more cylinders comes more parasitic power loss. One simply cannot apply the V6's hp/L ratio onto a V8, even with both having the same basic design and technology set.

True, though consider the V8's high performance heads and whatever other performance modifications may be a part of the engine that we don't know about.

While you are correct that more cylinders means more parasitic loss, I think the estimate is probably accurate guessing that the performance gains on the UR will offset the loss...but that in itself too is hypothetical.

Come on Lexus, please!

I was only pointing out to Jeremy the maths that IS-Fan probably used.

Yes, I agree that the performance gains on the UR will offset the loss. As you said, all of this is hypothetical, but I'm still standing by my guestimate of approximately 437 hp. Only time will tell. Lexus needs to spill the beans. I'm very surprised that the power rating has not been leaked yet.

Funny, that's how engine designers do it. They develop a single cylinder engine with the performance numbers they want, then do a simple multiplication to arrive at target hp. Parasitic loss actually drops for accessory drive items as a percentage of power since they generally don't work harder. Sure there's more absolute ring friction, but the percentage losses to ring friction remain the same regardless of the number of cylinders. Rod bearing losses are linear with the number of rods, and crank losses diminish as the number of cylinders increases because you spread the cost of the odd journal over the total number of journals. The only real enemy is block distortion as size increases.

At any rate, it is not at all unreasonable to take the 2GR-FSE's hp/liter and directly apply it to the 2UR-GSE.

I believe it's spec'd at 416-417 hp and 371-373 ft/lbs torque...You can find it in the owner's manual.
