I've been suffering from lack of IS 500 information withdrawal for the past few weeks but this link gave me a good hit to last me a few more months. I'm looking at getting either the IS500, next gen M3 or P 997S. Yes, with two little girls I absolutely need to have 2 jumps seats in the back and all 3 cars fit the bill. I've always told myself I couldn't justify paying over $50k for a car, any car, but what the heck. I work hard, and 4 years of college + 7 years of post grad school/training and all my reasoning goes out the door when I look at these cars. The P car has the best driving feel/prestige, the M3 probably the fastest (we'll see how Lexus fairs in this dept though), and the IS 500 will have the best overall package/interior/price. It'll likely be the IS 500 for me next year.

Reason: just noticed the link was in a different forum
As soon as it's available I'll be getting rid of my current employee lease and ordering one up. Well, maybe not as soon as it's available, but as soon as I know employee pricing... as long as it's not much more than my 350 then I'll be all over it. Been hearing whisps of this for a while and it's been confirmed that Lexus will have a performance line and that they're spending a ton of money on it right now. Can only mean good things.
No confirmed word from Lexus. It's still a rumor as all the info that is available are from "spy" magazines and forums, not Lexus. I'm still doubting an IS500, but do not doubt other engine variants such as the 460 and hybrid versions...

Just curious, why do you doubt an IS500, but not a IS460 ?
Lexus will have both versions in the new LS, the 5.0 V8 will be in the LS600hL . . .

As an employee they let you just jump in and out of leases like that?

Not quite, but I have an early out fee I can pay depending on how far along I am, it will be reasonable enough by that time if it's coming next fall... or I have the option of putting it up for sale within the office. I took a 3 year lease on this one for the cost reduction plus it still leaves plenty of options to get something else.. There are restrictions, but so few people in the office order a Lexus that if someone turns one back in they usually go pretty fast since they're a good deal.
Of course I may wait until I know exactly what's coming since more info is coming up on a new Supra, the GT500, IS500, IS Coupe.... it's gonna be tough to choose... although even with a hellacious deal I don't think I could afford the GT500 ($170,000).

Given the scenario that the LF-A will have the supposed 5.0L engine, I doubt Lexus will have a $100k+ car but offer the same engine on a $50k+ car. Lexus may want to keep the 5.0L engine exclusive to the LS and LF-A (third gen SC?).
But then again, look at the Ford GT and 'Stang GT500...
This would be the only reason I would regret getting the 350. I am not going to trade a 1 year old car, guess I'll have something to look forward to a few years down the road.

The 5.0 litre engine in the LS600hL is a V8, whereas the engine in the LF-A has been reported to be a V10, so they won't be the same IF they put the V8 into the IS500

Thanks for the clarification.
So perhaps there will be two V8 options for the IS?
