Default When it rains...(coilover question)

So my 2008 transmission went out. I decided that buying a new tranny vs paying 1k plus a month for a new ride.....wasnt worth it right now. (only other care I want is the LC) Ill get one eventually.

So I dropped the 10k total getting new tranny installed with a few other things added will it was in the shop. (New tranny is butter smooth).

Just got some new tires (same replacements) and now one side is scrubbing.

Im currently running kw v3's which ive had since 2018 (didnt realized I had them that long). I checked out the price and they have gone up since I got them. Plus Im not in the mood to spend that much plus more right now.

So I wanted to know some viable replacements. I asked Gemini and it it recommended RR racing, Fortune Auto 500, and BC racing (which are all cheaper than the KW)

Running 20 inch rims
Mich PS4s 27530 zr20 rear and 245/30ZR20 front
The right rear is the rubbing tire. Car was lowered but I raised it as much as the kw would allow couple years ago.

Anyone have any suggestions. Thanks

No way does your post provide enough information. Are you lowered? Wheel specs? Tire size? Where are you rubbing?

BC Racing is a good bang for buck that we sell. Not as good as KW but for the price, can't go wrong.

If it was me...I'd put your ISF on jack stands and send the KWs off to get rebuilt, if that's an option.

Barring that or getting Ohlin R/Ts (which you stated you're not looking to spend money), I'd maybe go with the HKS coilovers.

I've had BCs on a different platform (evo 8) and autox'd the crap out of it. They were adequate for their spring rates but wore out and spung a leak within 3 years. I'm a one strike kind of modder, so I'll never go back to BC again. Moved on to ohlins R/Ts on the Evo and they were so much of an upgrade in everyway and lasted 6-7 years before selling the car (probably should've rebuilt them...but still, they didn't blowout on me). Impressed me enough to put Ohlins on the IS-F.

From all accounts, KWs are of a similar known quality. Therefore, I'd rebuild them instead of, IMO, "downgrading".

But it is your money and everyone's goals are constrained by different perimeters. You know your situation and wants better than me.

For full disclosure, I come from a place that's had dreams and goals that my money can't back up! If money was no object, I'd contract some custom shop to convert my IS-F to running a MKV GR Supra 6-speed (Making it slower? Yes. Funner? Also Yes!)

Yea Gemini mentioned rebuilding too. Don't know if I want to wait another 3-4 weeks and go through the hassle of finding a shop that will allow me to leave my car jacked up there waiting on a rebuild.

And your right about the down grade. Lol, I can stomach paying 2300 again, which is what I paid the first time. I think they are like 3.5k now.
But I'll look into the ohlin

Thanks
