Noticed this the other day after driving spiritedly - I got a noticed that my trunk was open while driving.

Of course, the trunk was closed tight and all works with no issues and the message went away by itself.

I'm wondering if I should pull out the parts cannon and replace the latch and the rear trunk exterior button to see if it fixes it.

Anyone have this issue before?

 

My trunk actuator failed and would not reset the latching mechanism this past May. Fortunately, it failed when the trunk was open. Unfortunately, it managed to drain the battery even though I switched off the trunk area light. I pulled out the parts cannon and replaced original with 64600-53060. All is working properly now.
