Do performance Oil filters matter?
The IS-F sat for about a year (I drove it just enough to not have the battery drain) when I had sort of misplaced the title after moving to a new state back in 2021.
Once I got a new plate and xferred title, one of the first things I did was get the oil changed @ a local walmart (western state, no other real options on Sundays when I was usually in town). I don't recall if I asked for a performance oil filter and can't locate the paperwork. The mileage sticker listed 2022 as the year for the next oil change, so I suspect it was late 2021 or first half 2022.
Fast forward about 5400 miles and roughly 2 years later... I was finally able to get another oil change, deciding to do it on the weekend rather than schedule an appointment during the week w/ a Lexus dealer, at a local Walmart in my home state after moving back (all the other places I checked either didn't have the filter, including my cousin's shop, or wanted to charge a huge premium for the oil change, like $70 more than the dealer quoted me).
I had them use the same mobile 1 oil I had used previously; however I didn't mention using a performance filter (and can't remember if I paid a couple bucks more for one with the last oil change, thinking since they could see my last oil change, they would have matched oil and filter). If I had, then it would have probably been a FRAM or Mobile-1 performance filter.
Prior to the oil change, the IS-F was like a rocket off the line in lazy driver mode. 0-60 was easily sub-5. After the oil change, it's super sluggish, like we're talking at least 5, maybe 6s to 60. Even in sport mode it seems sluggish. Manual mode seems a bit more responsive but then I'm controlling the RPMs.
I checked the air intake in case they replaced the K&N air filter, thinking maybe that would cause it, but they didn't. The clip fell off when I went to look so I thought maybe it wasn't fully secured.
After resetting the clip, it's still super sluggish. There's a noticeable delay between when I press on the accelerator, hit the sweet spot, and when the vehicle responds and kicks into gear.
I checked the oil filter part number and I think it might be this generic looking PG Oil filter for Toyota / Lexus vehicles.
Does anyone know if a performance filter actually works to increase HP / performance and, more importantly, would performance be impacted if a performance filter is replaced with a generic oil filter instead?
Or could this be something else that is just popping up coincidentally with the oil change itself?
Thanks in advance!

Regardless, the filter isn't the issue. There is a complete thread about the 2UR running poorly immediately after an oil change. Sounds like you have one of those engines.
I am still getting intermittent results and definitely not the off-the-line torque I was getting before the oil change (there was a substantial bang start off from 0).Is this more of a computer thing or a break-in-after-oil-change filter thing? Or a something-else thing?!
I haven't performed regular maintenance since I bought this used (and haven't had to do any repairs over a decade of ownership + 45k miles....which is why i bought an LX for the winters).
Before I posted, I did review some of the forum discussions on this website, but couldn't discern their utility with regard to oil filter. Basically, how many drives required before my car reverts to awesome again?!
I just don't get how an oil change could cause this much of a difference in otl performance.
