electronic exhaust cutout
Hey guys I have a stock 2010 Lexus is350 exhaust. I would like to add a exhaust cutout if anyone has done this any help would be awsome. Where would be the best placement?
And will it cause and check engine errors..

Hey ROCKY!
So I've done some research on this and there is a person on Youtube with a blue wrapped IS250 or 350 that has a cutout. He replaced his stock resonator (at the beginning of the Y-pipe) with a tube and used a low profile QTP electronic cutout in his car. This saves money and is good on space since you would only need one instead of two. I almost went cutouts one time, but my exhaust guy said that he didn't like low profile cutouts and would rather have the regular profile ones instead. The reason why you would want low profile is if you are planning on making your car lower so you don't rub the cutout on the ground, but other than that, I believe a regular one might be okay with your car as well. If you want to save more money, you can just go with a muffler delete or an invidia midpipe.
As much as I would like controlling the sound of my car, I feel as if it would be more maintenance in the future if anything does happen to go wrong, whereas the mufflers or midpipes are pretty much fixed and can't have mechanical errors.
Just remember that the cutout placement will bypass everything after it, so removing the resonator and bypassing the mufflers is most likely the way to keep a sound similar to stock when closed and a really deep sound when opened.
Let me know if you have any more questions!

I replaced my two stock mufflers with a straight through/perforated muffler. This is somewhat loud but does not annoy me. I'm thinking of pairing my axleback with an Invidia midpipe to make it a little louder. Right now it sounds like a muffler delete, but is a little quieter (but not by much)

You in SD?
Yes, so the current setup I have is just from the axle back, which means the midpipe (including secondary cats) are completely untouched. If you were to do a muffler delete, the job would cost about 120 for labor and maybe $40 for tips. I am located in Orange County, but I do go to the Lexus Carlsbad events whenever they occur.
If you are in my area or if I'm in your area feel free to hit me up if you want to hear my car. My Instagram is @ my CL username. Hope this helps!

Hey everyone!
So. I am a proud owner of a 2007 IS350 and I have done few mods but they are tasteful. At least in the car community that I am involved with. The first one is an injen short ram cold air intake and it really amped up the intake noise .The numbers are allegedly nominal however I didn't notice it in the beginning or even at all but it sure sounded excellent .The next mod that I did was an exhaust dump because a full system seemed like a big leap and I enjoy the quiet atmosphere the Lexus provides on the daily. The dump in my opinion was an excellent alternative. It was installed by Carline muffler in Barrie, Ontario Canada. Great shop and I chose them based on recommendation. I don't weld to say the least but I prefer to do all other things if possible because I trust my work. The cutout is AWESOME. These motors sound incredible when opened up (2GR-FSE) I noticed power when the cutout was added in conjunction with the CAI. It also makes pop noises when you are decelerating and touch the gas a bit. Mid range torque is up and mid to high end horsies are there. At least that's what it feels like. It was welded in just before the massive 18ft resonator these cars come with but just after the the 2 midpipes meet. It is a QTP (quick time parts) low profile electronic cutout. I'll update when I can get a good video or a dyno pull.
recommended upgrade for sure.
