Is there technique I can use to tell if buffing is even a remote option? I do not own a buffing wheel but I could buy one and still save $.

Thank you.... Headed to Body shop tomorrow for estimate. IF estimate is well above $500 I will file with Insurance.

I swear at times it looks like someone slammed a shopping buggy into our car because the scratches are really low on the left side bumper and there is a bings/scratches above the tire in the fender wall.

You don't have to go to a Toyota/Lexus dealer. You can go to any body shop for the repair.

In fact, I would recommend a *good* body shop, not necessarily your car make's body shop. Do some research to find out good body shops in your area. For my area, our family has always used the same body shop/body shop manager. At one point it was a chevy dealer, then the shop manager went to the toyota dealer body shop.

If, for example, you've heard very good things about your local ford dealer's body shop, there's nothing wrong with that. If they're good, then they probably have a lot of practice on cars other than Fords, and then I'm sure they'll know how to remove your car's body panels. Since it's a lexus you can kinda assume you're local lexus dealer will outsource it to a good body shop, but at the same time you know what they say about assuming.

Default Quote for repair

I was Quoted $672.30 to repair the damage. $459 for labor; $213.30 Total additional parts.

Basically, There is no body damage except Repainting and all that goes with that.

My collision is $500 deductible. Will this cause my Insurance to go up? I am thinking of eating $172.30 to keep my Insurance rate from rising.

I had a comprehensive claim approx 15 months ago. My wife hit a bobcat and the front bumper on our former Toyota Avalon was replaced. That was approx. $1000. ($200 dollar deductible)

This was a stealership quote correct? I was expecting around the $600-700 range. Are they replacing your bumper or fender? I'm curious as to what parts need to be replaced.

The quote was $672 dolars. Why you say stealership?

No replacement parts needed $459 + $213.30 = $$672.30.
Total Labor $459...... Additional cost(I guess the paint, clear coat etc.) $197.50 + $15.80 tax = $213.30

I would call your insurance and ask if this kind of incident is comp. To me collision means you were driving not parked. It also is most likley to low to trigger a raise in premium. Give them a call.
