Did the 2012 IS350C come with a leather or other type gear shift lever cover? Mine doesn’t have one and it seems the gear box is really exposed to accidental liquid exposure and other things.

 

I see now there is no room for a cover. The problem is when the gear shift is on park ther is no plastic shielding covering the opening. When you put it in drive a plastic shield slides over the opening when you pull the gear shift down to drive, put nothing covers the opening when you move up to park.

 

I found the answer online. Apparently it is very common for the gear shift lever shield to break. Found a couple of replacements on Amazon. One vendor had sold over 200 of them. There are YouTube instructions for replacing it. Looks pretty straight forward to replace if you are willing to ply off a couple of trim pieces and pull the plastic housing over the gear shift lever.
