Once the center console is removed, remove the cupholder by unscrewing these four screws that mount it on the center console:
With the cupholder out, use a dremel to create a hold large enough to mount the LED. This area (bottom front of cup holder) is probably the only area that is free from interference, as the side has the rolling mechanism, and the back has to be clear for the cover to slide down.
For wiring, you want to tap into the wires that are powering the interior lighted cupholder inside the armrest. As an aside, once i removed this plug, it took many many tries for me to put it back in. In hindsight, I would have just directly tapped it while it was still plugged in. Its just in a really awkward location.
Once that is done, Just connect the positive and ground wires to the light and put everything back together. The light is ignition powered, so it will always be on when the car is on. It looks pretty cool shining through the side when the cupholder is closed as well:
It gives a much more subdued lighting that matches the OEM lighting a lot better:
Another tip: you can also just tap into the light for your gear shift indicator. Its much easier to access (the smaller of the two plugs you need to detach when removing the center console) and the light will only turn on when your headlights are on.
I didnt want to create a new thread, but this is what the cupholder on the rear center console looks like when you insert an LED into the middle under the plastic divider.
