Quote: Yeah this scares the bejeezus out of me. 😂 The results are not nearly the same as this mod. but I get more induction noise with the racing air filters. I had a K&N in my ‘16 IS 350 FSport and a TOM’s in my IS 500.

Thanks for be posting, it’s SUPER interesting! 🤘🏽
Haha. I freakin love it. Makes the car sound so much better. I installed a pedal commander today as well and spent some time finding a setting that I liked. Now the car has the feel I was after. I’m a wild one.

::chuckling:: I’d say! You should record it one day and post it.

The pedal commander is cool, but I would not want to look at it. I would like it if it was plug, play, and put away.

Here's a plug and play version:

I’m imagining the flap opens and closes more or less often and for longer depending on the drive mode. In eco mode it probably never opens haha

Opens in Eco at the same point it does in SportS+, at roughly 3500rpm

Actually it's not RPM or drive mode dependent, it's actuated by engine vacuum. Floor the throttle at any RPM, vacuum drops and the flap opens. Drive at a steady 3500 RPM the flap stays closed.

It is RPM dependent. Says that right in the repair information. Otherwise, why have an electrically switched valve?

It’s Bluetooth. It’s stashed down next to my drivers seat. Can’t see a thing.

Did anybody ever get a dyno test on the IS F? I saw the mention of the 1/8 mile times changing for the better with the flap left running like normal.

I just wanted to point out that the "3,600 RPM" in the original post is incorrect. This can be easily disproven by revving the car in neutral/park and observing what RPM the flap opens, or by listening to the engine while driving. It's 2,800 RPM.

See also: https://media.lexus.ca/en/releases/2...k-edition.html

It mentions 2,800 RPM as the point at which the intake air box "flap" opens.

2,800 rpm is more accurate for sure. Mod is worth it. No drop in power. Disregard outdated information from the IS-F post especially if you're running the vacuum cap mod vs un-plugging it.

There may potentially be a slight decrease in power if you're idling on hot summer nights in the pits at the drag strip and heat soaking the intake system. On the street, if you're moving at all there's no noticeable decrease in power and any reasonable air flow is going to eliminate the heat soak issue. The linear sound from the engine instead of the digital on-off switch is well worth this quick change.

Yeah that makes sense to me. I'd imagine that normal street driving wouldn't cause a big issue.

Am I gonna do it? Nah. Or I may just try it and see how it feels and sounds, but only because it costs next to nothing to do.

Takes 30 seconds and is reversible just as fast. The intake volume is now 100% linear with your throttle input. I hated when I would get partially on the throttle and it would be silent then open and start to bark a bit. Now your right foot is the volume ****. Or just come drive my car and test out the exhaust/intake combo all in one. I'm old so deafening isn't what I want, but with 470+hp it shouldn't be silent either.
