Default Help me decide on tires!

It is finally time for me to buy tires. I just got back from an oil change and the inspection video showed some really bad inner tire wear. Oddly enough the fronts aren't so bad, which is what I've been checking, it's the rears. The inside tread block is almost gone (just under 12k miles). I will do an alignment of course, but I might do the bushings as well.

I am torn between the Michelin Pilot AS 4 and the Pirelli AS Plus 3. We get cold winters, but no snow, so I do need an all season tire. I have never had an issue with Michelin, but the Pirelli looks promising as well. Not sure if they're so promising I want to change from what I know and like. Plus, I'm a huge Corvette fan and the Corvette comes with Michelin Plot AS 4 tires which says something to me.

Another small factor, the Michelin comes in OEM sizing, Pirelli does not.

It's a tough choice I do like Pie.

I don't trust Pirelli since they got sold years ago. I do trust Michelin.

These 2 are good contenders:

-Michelin Pilot Sport 4s
-Continental Extreme Contact Sport 02

The Continental's are like $300ish cheaper for a set of 4 vs the Michelins.

Why not DWS+? That's what I usually run year round here in MD.

Those are a possibility, thought the Michelin outperformed them though. I've actually never owned a Continental tire in my entire life 😳

Bridgestone Potenza RE050A and it's sweet 140 treadwear lol.

Go Michelin. That's what I'm getting in late October/early November. I'd probably go with Bridgestone but they don't make a comparable all season in OEM size.

I’ve switched my other cars over to Continentals. Love them. Long tire life, quiet ride, and better cold weather performance than the other brands we’ve tried over the years.

Definitely intend to get a set of their all seasons on my 500 once the time comes.

I do want something quiet and comfortable. I'm "quiet and comfortable" for a huge percentage of my driving. I'm sure grip can't be any worse than the Poopstones on the car right now for when I do get a little crazy!

I'll have to look at them again. Tirerack shows them unavailable for the car, even though both sizes are in stock. Weird...

I had the pirelli all seasons on my 328 back in the day and really didn't find them that great. They weren't bad but sometimes I just didn't feel confident, but also never lost grip either. I'll gladly admit it may have just been in my head. I've also tried a pirelli (not the performance a/s though) tire on my Camry and didn't like it either (It came with Michelin, then I tried Pirellis, then I tried continental, and I'm back to Michelin). Honestly, I'd probably just go with the Michelin.

I read a lot of bad reviews about the old Pirelli AS tires... Supposedly the new ones are better, but I don't think I want to risk it.

I found this review FINALLY with a direct comparison between the Michelin and Conti. Seems they're both incredibly strong.

We just picked up our IS500 on Wednesday so I did not vote. However we have used the Bridgestone Potenza RE050A on our 2009 Infiniti G37S Coupe and that tires predecessor for 132K miles. I have tracked that tire and run it on road. Never run it in snow or ice. It works great in Texas down pours. AZ and TX only places lived since 2009. My wife is primary driver for G and she gets about 40K per set and G has staggered like IS500 so no rotations.

^^^ Those are a summer tire and $200 more expensive than the Michelin PS4S Hopefully by this time next year I'll be moved and I'll need a tire that can deal with a little light snow so I need an all season.

I would say the Continental DWS06+ or the Michelin PSAS4 would be the ones I'd be looking at.
