Default Vibration through the gear selector

This is probably totally normal, but hear me out...

Have any of you noticed that, if you rest your hand (gently, please) on the gear selector, it exhibits a small vibration that seems to change with engine RPM? Mine has done this since new, so I was going to chalk it up to the exhaust vibrating or something of that nature. I don't recall feeling anything like that on my IS 350.

Honestly this car vibrates like a ****. I’ve not felt what you’re describing but never tried. I wouldn’t be surprised if the car is a complete rattlebox by 30k miles.

Arentz - I can say that I do feel a very faint vibration but so minor that it never concerned me. I can't say if my 2021 IS 350 had the same issue, I can't recall but if I am not worried about it, it's obviously not a big issue...not sure how yours vibrate however

It's a pretty low-frequency vibration. I can feel it speed up as I accelerate until the transmission selects the next gear - seems to follow RPM closely. That's why my first thought was exhaust... but why I would be able to feel the exhaust is beyond me.

I wouldn't feel it is exhaust related, more engine/drivetrain connection vibrate as that things rumbles Not sure how to describe it...

True. And I've felt worse vibrations in cars. The 911 and Boxster I've driven both had similar, if not worse, vibrations in the center tunnel area of the car especially at low RPM.

However, it seems odd that I ONLY feel it through the gear selector - not the steering wheel or seats or anything else I touch.

I was going to fondle my gear selector 😉 just for you, but then I forgot lol. I will test it out when I leave work. I haven't noticed any vibrations either mine, but 472 ponies are bound to vibrate things.

Probably cause those other parts aren't as directly connected and have more bits in between to absorb the forces.

metal to metal transference of vibrations. My 2014 GS350 had this too if i put my hand on the gear shift while driving. I think these shifters still have a direct connection and aren't fully controlled by wire. correct me if i'm wrong.

Recently I've noticed there is actually quite a bit of vibration in the car. Maybe it's because I have been spending a decent amount of time in a rental X5 and my wife's X3, but coming back to the IS 500 a couple of days ago, I found that, on cold start, the car seemed to be coming to life a bit. In fact, on startup, it seemed that the whole car twisted to the right a bit - more noticeably than I expected.

It doesn't feel like something is wrong, but it IS interesting.

I've been in a rental for a week too! I'll see if I feel something when I get back into the IS. I have been checking for vibrations periodically and I don't feel anything too crazy. Very, very gentle vibration if any.

Lexus stuffed a V8 in a sport-compact Sedan so not surprised there are vibrations or a apron separation.

Yes, picked mine up with 25 miles off the lot and it was one of the first things I noticed. I Don't hate it.

Yup, I feel it too. A low frequency vibration. Does add character to an otherwise relatively well insulated car.
