When I took mine in at 1000 miles. They looked at me and went "why are you here, nothing needs to be done".

My dealer service manager told me they don't use break-in oil. He also was weirded out that I was in for an oil change, thinking I should have waited till 10k. I basically told him, without using these exact words, to check the manual. I even went as far as to remind him it's a 500 and not a 350.

When I went in for 1000 miles I didn't change the oil, and within a few weeks, I saw this thread and regretted that decision. So I got it changed at about 2,900 miles. I'll probably do another at 7k miles or so. I am curious about the kind of oil they use - seems like it's probably a synthetic blend - certainly not full synthetic. It's weirdly cryptic on that information.

Y'all are overthinking it. It's a Lexus.

^^ This 4k-5k is perfectly fine as long as you are using a Full-Synthetic not conventional.

9.1 quarts, not liters!

I may have to request full synthetic if I keep going to the dealership, I suppose. I have a local shop I could try where I could probably take my own oil.

^^ I purchase my own oil from my local AutoZone then take it to lexus. They always use my own supplied engine oil.

Here's the second analysis!
You'll notice there's not many miles but on a fairly warm 80-90F day, I spent a day with friends at an autocross/drifting event and wasted my rear set of OEM tires in a day. It's probably that level of use, where I'm pushing the car at high rpms, that appears to have taken the oil beyond it's limits. With this data I can at least do a similar test in the future with synthetic oil to see if the results differ...although I will need some funding assistance on rear tires to do that...lol!

Welp. If I wasn't already convinced to provide my own oil, you've convinced me now.

In all seriousness, I was going to do so anyway, but thanks for the helpful information as usual.

Got my results back. Changed early at 960 miles. Surprised to see the viscosity thinner considering how gentle the break in miles were.
