If someone has actually experienced something different, would like to hear about it.

Here's what is in our Warranty and Maintenance book:
thanks I actually did not know this. Lexus website with the over arching complimentary maintenance says we get our first year of maintenance for free so it didn’t make sense only six months were covered. My salesman (who apparently knows nothing) also said 6 months and 1 year free. I’m curious though.

Did you all take to your dealer for 1month or 1k service?
Probably unfounded, but early in 2022 I read several posts about the quality of the oil from the factory. Due to COVID issues and intermittent closings, the standard checks and balances were possibly not up to snuff. I did not know if it was true, but the concern was enough that at 1000 miles I paid to have the oil changed. Waited until 5k to use the complimentary free service and incidentally, I need to make an appointment for the 10k service.

I am not claiming to be a moderator but I find this thread has gotten a bit personal. Let's all keep it civil and remember, no one is here to try and convince others what to do, or not to do.

In the end, make the choice that makes you feel better but remember we are individuals and can make our own decision without being personal or snippy at others....Wishing you all, a safe 2023!!

Right on, well said. Here’s to an even more amazing 2023! Sure 2022 had its challenges, but I’m one of the lucky/blessed few to get my hands on a IS 500. So in my estimation the year was pretty damn awesome. 😎

Weird. I was under the impression that Lexus covered the first four services (2yrs/20k miles worth) … but this seems to only be for their L/Certified used cars. I get there are reasons to do so but still it’s very odd for those buying new to only get half the deal of those buying used.

The way I am reading that, that would only be for L/Certified used cars.

I am going to also reach out to my dealer about the first services. I am approaching 1 month myself, so I am going to see what they say on if they would cover the 1-6-12 month services, or just the first two. Since the 1 month is mostly visual, I am hoping they oblige.

I am just going off information in the Lexus app. The 1 month isn't listed on my dealer's site for maintenance, so I am trying to cover all my bases.

We do like to provide our Lexus' excellent care; however, synthetic oil just doesn't break down as quickly as old dirty oils did, & it's great you're providing your own oil - I used to as well once I wasn't able to do it myself - but if paying DEALER prices for maintenance, you're adding even more $$$$ to already high prices for simple jobs - & NOTHING guarantees what you provide goes into your vehicle, or perhaps into the manager or owner's cars. You either trust them or you don't: if you don't trust them to use what's best for their own vehicles, why trust them to put what you hand them into your vehicle...?
We folk who had cars/trucks back when gas had lead, manufactured metal parts had multiple burrs throughout engines, changing oil often - especially with new cars - made a LOT of sense, so we have a gut-level, decades-long mindset about oil changes. It's unfortunate bc there are PLENTY of dealers, mechanics, garages more than happy to make money off of us for unnecessary "maintenance." There is simply NO need to have dealers or anyone mess with 4000 miles old SYNTHETIC oil. There are no burrs, no fast breakdown of sythetics compared to the old dirty oil in dirty-running, lead-drinking engines of old. Also, the more often stranger's hands mess with YOUR vehicle, the more often there's a chance for something to be accidentally screwed up. (And they'll be happy to charge you even more $$$ to fix it) 5-10K depending on driving conditions with synthetics is plenty, according to most experts (& they aren't trying to keep $$$ coming in for service)

^spot on

as my service advisor once said when I asked if they use full synthetic, “yes, don’t worry, they know what they’re doing”

You all on the other hand, don’t know what you’re doing. Myself included. We can’t even agree what the complimentary maintenance intervals are when it’s written in plain sight lol.

As far as I know, no. That is something to do with them being able to claim a certain MPG by having the car start in normal or eco.

I was under this impression also but my dealer made me aware that this does not apply to any V8 model and that only the 1st (inspection) and 2nd (oil change) is covered. I ignored the inspection anyway and assumed the 2nd oil change would be covered but alas... $186 was due, even with my countering about 2nd service being covered.

I just had to pay for my 10K also.
