Most of us would love a chance to look for the fob. OK. If the car is driven 50 feet away from the house will it still start? If so, then the fob is definitely in the car. In that case, it will just take consistent looking.
I lost my main fob when I bought my car. Could not find it for 4 months. Then one day I put on my bathrobe hanging in my closet and there it was in the pocket. I was so so so happy.
Funny thing…. Hold the key fob under your chin and use it, range will be greatly increased. I thought this was a joke but it works, something to do with the fluid in your head, lol.
My remote range is dog crap on the IS 500 compared to my IS 250. I can be two car lengths away from it looking at the car the remote doesn’t do anything. Compared to my 2012 IS 250 which inside a house still works fine. I keep both keys on me to do the garage shuffle. Range issue could be a security thing.

Same. It's absolutely worthless. I was literally right by my car trying to remote start it, and nothing happened.
I’ve got the same setup 2012 and 2025. I find it funny the 2012 key has the FCC and denso on the back but on the 2025 it’s on the front. Also separately, it drives me crazy that my 2012 has passenger lumbar but my 2025 500 does not.
It makes the Remote Start on these cars doubly useless. It was already dumb that it shuts off the when the door opens. But with the range as short as it is, if I'm walking towards the car, by the time its picking up signal I'm going to be standing at the door in less than 10 seconds. It takes about 7 seconds to do the Remote Start dance.
I've been hoping to find an aftermarket Remote Start unit because the factory one may as well not exist with how limited it is.
