24 hours into learning this, I can only gety IS500 to hit redline in manual mode (which has always been the case) -or- if in the kick down pedal is engaged in auto mode. Traction control can stay on and still get to redline in auto mode, at least in my custom mode and sport+.
I had been able to get to redline in auto mode in 3rd and maybe 4th gear without the kick down pedal, but up to yesterday had never been able hit redline in auto mode in 1st or 2nd gear until I learned about the kick down pedal quirk.
Even the LC 500 seems to behave this way. It'll upshift at 7000 unless in manual mode. I guess Lexus is trying to save the engines a little bit.
Though, I will say, seat-of-the-pants feel doesn't change much between shifting a few hundred RPM shy of redline. So I'm sure Lexus think they can get away with it.
Also, I noticed even the new Nissan Z is the same way. In all the videos I've watched of the automatic Z, (if that's relevant ) it'll upshift at about 6500 or so unless manual mode is engaged.

Ya shifting at 7000rpm would’ve been fine, I hadn’t been able to get it to rev past 5500rpm in automatic mode prior to realizing there’s a kickdown pedal. And that last 1800rpm is where all the fun is !!!
Never an issue getting to redline in manual mode. Trick there is timing your shift without bouncing off the limiter, and transmission shifts sluggishly unless fully warmed up making shift timing a sliding scale.
Jororo - Is your IS 500 away for repairs or unavailable for some reason? Your last post sort of implies you can't drive your car, unless this is poor English and language barrier?

FM 2222 is a scenic city road in Austin that’d be fun to drive in the IS500. ‘GoHorns’ and my license plate ‘Bevo’ are both nods to University of Texas at Austin (well, I’m assuming that’s why the user name ‘GoHorns’ was picked).
IS500 is actually between visits to the shop though … taking it back in next week to get front apron looked at a second time (body shop manager was on vacation last week). And still have 4-5 other hopefully minor issues that didn’t get addressed/fixed on last week’s service visit.
If you are in the Austin area, you should take the time to drive 1431 between Lago Vista and Marble Falls. First half of road going from Lago to Marble Falls if a heck of a lot of fun if no one is in front of you.

Hook 'Em
I wish we had some fun roads like that here... all the possible fun roads are so torn up you'd wreck your car trying to have fun on them. Even still, they used to be scenic as well, but that is gone now too.
still have 4-5 other hopefully minor issues -
what are the issues?
Mostly small stuff that we didn’t spend much time trying to replicate on previous visit as we were going to have to bring car back anyway. Speaker hiss, intermittent cruise control functionality, grinding feel from driver front wheel/hub/etc, and a couple other minor things.
Got car aligned at ~3000 miles and is was way out of whack, so the grinding feeling has me most concerned. I will do a drive with service tech as I probably did a poor job explaining. Hopefully my car wasn’t used for shenanigans while stuck at port like those videos of other IS500s. Fun times !!
