How’s your AC?
The AC system, when operating, does add a slight load to the engine, which could slightly increase gas usage. Though this usage would not be recognized by most consumers.
Running the air conditioner when driving is actually more efficient and saves gas as compared to driving with the windows down. When the windows are up, the vehicle is more aerodynamic. When the windows are down, this creates excess drag on the vehicle, which increases resistance.

Tested mine yesterday and today. AC vents stream in hotter air if AC is set to a higher temp before being turned off, but if I set it to LO then turn off the AC, the air that still flows thru the vents is about the same as the outdoor temperature.
This was all city driving after engine had warmed up, with outside temp of 62 and 90 … no idea what’s going on with those who have hot air being forced in no matter what temp they turn off the AC at.

Yeah, that's how my other Lexus vehicles have been. Cold back and butt. The IS is the weakest. I just figured they got better as you went higher up the model line up with the IS being the lowest.
Ran a small test last night, air temp & flow is different in all these settings:
A/C OFF:
Circulation: On
^ This setting had the warmest heat coming through
A/C OFF:
Circulation: Off
A/C OFF:
Circulation: Off
Sunroof opened / tilted open
^ The sunroof tilted option + circulation off provides highest air flow & lowest temperature from what I experienced

I'm so lost on this thread. If the A/C is off, why would there be cool air coming in unless the ambient air is also cool?
With the seats, they are "ventilated", which means you can have air blown through them. They are not air conditioned or "cooled" as some have said. So, it helps to get the A/C running for a few minutes before turning them on. I typically don't turn them on until I have been driving for a while and start developing a sweaty back side.
