My GM vehicles struggled to blow cold air even with thr AC on!
Again you’re missing the point. This was a sweet little “hack.” You could drive in quiet and comfort at highway speeds without needing to crack any windows or sunroofs while still getting cool airflow from the vents. We’re not asking for cold air. COOL air. OP and I are saying the IS500 is blowing WARM air. If you’ve never been fortunate to have cool air happen on your previous cars, you wouldn’t understand.

exactly what I was trying to explain. Before my IS i owned Toyota corolla, infiniti q50 and subaru now.
no of these cars had this kinda issue with fan when the outside temperatures is pleasant.

example:

lets say your outside is around 60F and you want to just enjoy that temperature inside the car.
all you have to do is set the fan at desired speed, temperature to desirable temp and turn off the AC

but with IS500 it would always pump in warm air when the AC is off.

we are only left with option to turn on the AC all the time.

You are right, I will pay a little more for my comfort. Do new cars even get better gas mileage with the AC off? Old cars used to, but the compressors would dry out in many states thay only need AC 2-3 months a year. It literally felt like I hit a 50 mph headwind when I would turn on the AC in my old Firebird. On new cars the compressor stays engaged at all times, keeps the compressor oiled and operating right. I don't think it actually saves a noticeable amount of gas anymore, especially when the AC is not set to low and fan speed is also low.

this was the case during winter time in dallas which is when temp is 35f outside

I didn’t try with recirculate option without AC tuned off yet but will update it once I test it.
haven’t really drove her much due to bumper issue which has a whole new forum.
ah, understood. Definitely something to have looked at. It’s hot enough here to have the AC on all the time. I haven’t noticed any issues. Hope you figure it out.

Yeah you could be right. I've never researched it, but I think I will now lol. You would think the technology has improved.

This is just how I was raised. Same way I don't like to have AC on when going uphill or when accelerating onto a freeway. I would love to be wrong. I'll look into it.

Don’t forget that you can use ”custom” mode and set the AC to “ECO”

I could use the fan-only mode in both ES’, but not in either ‘06 and ‘16 IS models. I kept the setting on recycle to keep the warm air out. (Whether the fan is on our not, the warm air comes through.)

The IS 500 puts out more heat, so I assumed it’s the engine size.

The comments on the cooled seats are interesting. They’re much more powerful in this car than in my previous IS’. On the 3rd setting, my nether areas are too chilled and my shirt is flapping! 😜 My only complaint, the fans are loud ASF.

I don't have an IS500 but I noticed this phenomenon yesterday in my IS250. Outside it was around 68-70F (cool), AC was off, temp was set to "low" and it was blowing in hot air.

Your seat fans are loud on the IS 500? Mine are dead silent on all levels! Maybe mine is broke. The fans are loud on the ES, RX, and LS but they actually chill your man berries quite nicely!

Reminds me of our old 1996 Toyota Avalon. There was an AC vent on the lower left of the steering wheel that literally cooled your crotch off, we called it "the ball vent" LOL it was God's gift on a hot day.

Mine and the other is500 I sat were dead silent. I thought of bringing this to my dealer notice but this car has other high priority issues that needs to be rectified first.

I didn’t know it had fans like the ones it has in other American brands like cadillac or Lincoln.

want to hear it from other IS owners

LOL @ Ball Vent!

Yeppers…if I turn the music low or off, the fans can be heard throughout.
