I definitely see a reason to use ASC at low-mid RPM where the engine sound is pretty quiet, especially if I have the air blasting or music.

The concept is not a terrible one, makes you feel like you have an exhaust without bothering those outside the car as much. I just hate that it sounds like an autotuned version of the V8. The V8 in this car sounds great, no need to change it in the speaker amplifier version.

 

I guess I'm just less discerning than some folks, but I really like the IS500 ASC sound. I just leave it on max all the time. I was surprised to learn that it's synthetic and played through the speakers. I had a McLaren 12C with a sound tube from the intake into the cabin, and that thing sounded like **** (it sounded fake because of the rubber membrane inside the tube, designed to prevent actual air exchange between the intake and the cabin), and they wanted like $1K to replace it every year, so I just left it off all the time. I had an Aston Martin 4.3L V8 that was the best-sounding engine I've ever heard, but the IS500 is really great with its low rumble. Love the engine. My 2008 Tundra with the 5.7L V8 sounds really cool at WOT too.

 

I dont even know what the ASC sounds like. Such a useless feature.

Off from day one. Our cars are soooo noise rich already, why would I want to supplement the natural goodness with some synthetic fake.
