Bait...and no switch
I periodically look at dealers within 500 miles to see if they have a new LC500 coupe on the thought that I might want to trade up. One popped in a nearby State so I inquired about trade-in value for my 2024 IS500 with 4000 miles. After providing pictures and data they quoted just over $66k, and there is a CARFAX on it. I cannot confirm there is a CARFAX on the couple of free sites I found and I am not willing to pay $45 for a CARFAX report. I did not think $66k was bad given that I paid $69k, but it was all moot. The car on the website indicates enroute but the dealer says it is sold! So why does it show up on the website???? I really didn't want to trade anyhow....At least the salesman did not try to talk me into something else.

I've found absolutely nothing, and this is SoCal the car capital of the world. I also refuse to buy from Carvana.
I'm not planning to trade any cars though.
Isbrodsky - I am just a bit confused, are you saying there is a carfax on your IS that you were going to trade in? I am confused because you said you can't confirm there is a carfax on it, isn't this your car so you would know if there is a carfax no?!
Anyway, the point of my post was to reply to your part about the part on the information appearing on teh dealer website. I can confirm that it is indeed the way things are done. I have seen this many time here too (in Canada) and was told that the dealerships don't control that aspect on what appears on their website and in transit. Obviously, once the vehicle arrives at the dealer, then dealer has the ability to remove it off their website. The same had happened to my Launch Edition and such. Now that being said, a quick call to the dealer inquiring about the so called "in transit" vehicle should have yield a response that "sorry, that car is already sold/spoken for and you could have left your name with them in case things change. Keep in mind, until the deal is done, anyone with a car tagged to their name can still pull out and maybe that is why the cars stay there until it is officially sold....but nothing prevents you from asking teh sales person to tag your name as the "next in line" should the original buyer pulls out

Understood although it still feels like Band and Switch. As for the CARFAX, I gave all of those details last year when my car was hit and run in my parking lot. The front bumper cover was replaced, repainted, re-ceramic coated. I paid out of pocket, in part to avoid "accident reporting".
