Default trade values?

If you traded cars for your new IS, what was your experience regarding the trade in value? I'm especially interested in:
- if the dealer was generous on your trade b/c they insisted on MSRP on the new IS
- dealer didn't negotiate on trade or new IS price
- trade values close to black book, KBB, edmunds?
- was the trade value closer to wholesale, private party or retail?

Thanks!

I traded in a 2003 Maxima SE and got over KBB + $1500 off of sticker.
Of course, that deal was penned 5 weeks ago and I still don't have a flippin car.

The salesman and the woman who appraised my trade scoffed at the idea of using KBB or Edmunds, and like most dealers in my area, pulled out their trusty copy of Galves. My trade had a crack in the windshield (bad enough to require replacement), so I wasn't able to do any better than Galves wholesale. I did get more than $1k off MSRP on the new car and free seasonal snow tire switchovers for three years -- not too bad considering this was a couple months back when the cars were in tighter supply.

Default Trading my 04 S2000

Haven't made the deal yet (special order) but was told by the salesman at Lexus of Portland that they will give me KBB trade in for a 'good' car.

Being as the car only has 5600 miles on it..when push comes to shove I will be expecting something closer to "Excellent' value.

Lexus has a link on their website to KBB to determine trade in value. I did a comparison betweeen their link, Edumnds and directly from KBB. Interestingly enough, the Lexus value was lower for the same care, same condtion, etc This is true even for the KBB direct vs KBB via Lexus...Believe me I will call them on it when I make the deal.

I did an average of the three sources for both 'Good' and "Excellent"...will take the average of the group....

HOEPFULLY I get the car this weekend..so will let you all know how it goes

I live in WA state where we have to pay sales tax to register the car (no sales tax in OR_. The tax is based on the net difference (Sales prices less trade) rather than just sales price. I can afford to get a bit less than I could sell the car for..Have been trying to sell since October..but it RAINS here..and not the right time of the year to sell a drop top.

Default Traded 01' CLK430

I traded in my 01' CLK430 and pretty much got what KBB had it at for Trade in Value. They said they couldn't offer a dollar more, since my car had minor paint work done, which IMO is total bulls**t. Some brand new cars off the lot already come with minor paint work done.

I traded in a 2000 Maxima SE with 95k miles which was in good (not excellent) condition. I fought and got $1000 above KBB trade-in value. I was only able to get $700-$800 off MSRP for my IS350 (which was on the lot).

I traded in my 2000 Maxima as well. Got KBB value and 800 off on the car that they had reserve on the boat. Seeing that it was early december when I purchased I can't complain.
