Default Tire Experiment

Just FYI if anyone is considering all season tires.

2024 IS500 F Sport Perf Prem.

I hit a pothole in late July and the RF tire went flat. I thought I'd try M+S tires in anticipation of the upcoming thing we call winter. I have a tire rack account, so based on research, I ordered a pair of BS Potenza Sport AS XL (235/40-19) for the fronts. Installed Aug 4 2025. Replaced with BS Potenza S001L (same size) today. The steering feel was too light. After the mobile tire swap, I was pulling back into the garage and there was a noticeable difference in steering feel. Consequently, I have two BS Potenza Sport AS XL that I'll be selling now. ~90 miles.

That is strange.

I have all season tires and they're better than stock in every way.

I am in agreement with that. I put Michelin Pilot 4 AS on my 500 and they are WAYYY better than the stock potenza summer tires. The stock tires were like driving on plastic tricycle tires.

This is my experience as well. Sounds like OP also only replaced the fronts and perhaps didn't get passed the break-in period. Not all tires are made equal.

Edit: Here's Tirerack's comments on the tire in question:

https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tests/ultra-high-performance-all-season-the-search-for-balance?ttid=334#bridgestone-potenza-sport-as

It is noted not to have great wet and dry performance compared to others in the same category, but good winter traction.

Flip a coin or base it on price. Both are great tires.

I suspect they'll be close enough to be negligible.
