I have a 25 IS500 coming in around the end of the month. Where do you put your phones? I want to mount a MagSafe charging mount but do not know where to do it. And how do you route your charging cable to the port in the box?
I use a detachable wallet case on my iPhone Pro Max, and with the case on it fits perfectly between the seat and the glovebox without ever sliding down to the bottom or sliding forward to the footwell.
For background, the IS has some folded material in the gap between the front seats & center tunnel to keep most things from falling down. But iPhone are so thin that without the wallet case it’ll slide forward under braking.
My exact setup probably won't work for you, but it may give you some ideas. I mount mine in front of the driver-side vent, preserving the passenger side vent, since I typically don't like the heat or A/C blowing directly on me and passengers often do like that. I live in Southern California, so I rarely need the heater - however I tend to have the A/C running most of the time, and that helps keep the phone cool since my mount is also a wireless charger. Here's the mount/charger on Amazon:
Even though my phone is not an iPhone, the mount is MagSafe compatible, so I have a MagSafe compatible case for my phone always attached to it and slide my phone in when I get in. In my particular instance I only need the bottom half of the case as my phone folds, and I drilled some holes in it to help a bit with cooling. I use a 180-degree and a 90-degree USB-C adapter to keep the plug and cable mostly hidden, then removed the center console to run the cable out of sight. Underneath the dash I used a 12-volt to 5-volt adapter (powered when ignition or accessory are on) that has two USB-A outputs so I can simply plug right in with a C to A adapter. The setup is very stable and puts up with spirited driving without issue. It does, of course, bounce a tiny bit on bumpy roads, but that's difficult to avoid with this kind of mount. If you want links to all the parts I used, let me know.
Here are some pics of the visible setup (although it looks like the phone display is failing, it's not - I think that's a polarization issue between the screen and the phone I used to snap the pic)...

Just received this phone mount from t-design. Its for the Porsche family but fits perfectly in our IS’s. They are pricey but well made and works perfectly.

That model was recommended to me by the local shop that did my tint, vinyl, and PPF. I was very tempted, but ended up going the air vent route (after trying two other mounting options) because it looked like it might encroach on the passenger knee brace area. Based on your experience with it, I was wondering if the glovebox door clears without issue. Do you have people ride shotgun very often? If so, any issues with it getting knocked around or with passenger knee placement?
How does it attach? Does it just slip in there so tightly that it holds?
yep, I have it too, no issues with glove box or passenger, good angle for driver to see too. Very secure and just slides in between gap with no mounting glues or clips. Easy to use one hand to put your phone in it too

Thanks. Any guide or YouTube video on loosening/pulling the console to run power to the usb?
This was the best video I could find at the time I ran my USB charging cable and installed the sub-function button kit from ******** for the panoramic/360 view camera. I couldn't find any videos strictly focused on removing the center console for the recent refresh, but did eventually get to this video which is focused on removing the radio and touch screen. It just so happens to also include a step-by-step center console removal process since that's required for the radio. There are a couple points where it might seem a little hairy - just don't force anything and take note of exactly how some things are done in the video (like which end, and which side, of the center console are popped up first when you finally get to that point).
I used a basic MagSafe mount and some sticky tape. I drilled a small hole in the console right under it and ran the cable through. I ran the cable under the trim on the console and drilled a hole into the console to get to the USB. I had to cut and splice the USB cable. I can easily get to the seat heater buttons. The only thing it blocks are some logos. My standard size iPhone fits just right. Not sure it would work as well with a max phone.
