That wheel is structurally compromised even if it holds air sitting there. When driving at highway speeds or on sharp curves the rubber will flex and not be seated properly. Who knows if the wheel is cracked and if that will disintegrate at high speeds too. What a rip off, I'd be ashamed to be the Lexus dealer that's doing this to a customer.
agree. Ask if the service manager will sign something saying that the integrity of the wheel is 100 percent NOT compromised and represents zero risks to you on the street, at highway speeds or doing an occasional HPDE with 130+ mph speeds (as the car was designed to do), and that they will take full accountability for any subsequent damage and repairs to the entire vehicle for any incident which occurs as a result of failure of that damaged wheel.
The wheel is toast, either way. I don't think you can safely repair it. If the dealership doesn't know this (or even Lexus Financial for that matter), then that is just incompetence or willful denial.
The Lexus warranty is being incredibly idiotic and pedantic on this one saying it is both too damaged for cosmetic repair but not damaged enough for replacement.
Although the documentation cites the ability to hold air as a condition, no honest broker would think this wheel was ‘okay’. There’s too many gotchas and ‘too cutes by halves’ to deal with their money grabbing BS. 🤮
I have used Lexus tire and wheel to replace a bent wheel. In fact on my GSF they replaced a 2000$ bbs wheel for a bend (vibration at highway speed). I am surprised that the car is vibration free with that bend. Try driving at highway speed to detect the vibration.
The wheel has a structural defect and you are at risk for ruining suspension components (from vibration at highway speeds) OR a failure of the wheel at high speeds.
Go to a different Lexus dealer and challenge this with Lexus corporate. The dealer is blowing smoke up your ***.
And please tell us the name of this dealer so no one wastes their time there.

So I've visited Germain Lexus of Dublin, they told me they couldn't do anything about the wheel. I called Lexus Financial to bring it up and told them I had the Platinum wheel protection, they told me that since my wheel is holding air, they won't do anything. I'm heading back to the dealership later today to talk to the financial guy who sold me the package and have him repeat what he said, because I know for 100% he said any damages to my wheel would be fixed. If they're not going to do anything then I'm going to cancel the protection plan, get my money back and look for a new wheel.
I just bought that package with an addition that also covers aftermarket wheels. They try that bull****, they may suddenly be needing to replace several large windows at the dealership. I hate when they try and pull shady crap like this.

I bought an extended warranty for the first time in my life, but no wheel package. I think it's time to terminate the crappy Lexus coverage.

Yup. Start a car fund and throw money there to handle these issues.
They are described as refurbs on the website, that's why they are 1/3 of the dealer price. They give the correct oem part# for reference but ya, I'd talk to them to confirm before purchasing.
