So here’s the deal for me. I’ll be retiring in a year and I currently own a 2013 GS F Sport and 94 300zx TT which I enjoy both for what they are and great cars. I also own a 2019 Ridgeline and 2005 Subaru Baja Turbo.
Just curious of some of your thoughts about whether you would sell or keep the aging GS and Z and replace with the IS500.
This would lower maintenance and repair cost but not sure it’s a good trade off for 2 great and fun to drive cars.

Why not just add to the stable? Do you need to sell a car to consider a new car?
Keep the 300ZX Turbo, the other cars are replaceable. As a Supra Turbo owner and 300ZX Turbo fan I would say that one is irreplaceable. GS to IS is a good replacement.

I’ve had the Z for 14 yrs now and it’s in beautiful shape. Of course I had to invest over time with maintenance but it sure is fun and relatively fast and stick shift. Don’t find too many on the road that look nice after 30 years so I would have a hard time parting with it.
I guess having the GS in AWD and the Z is a great combo living in NW Indiana. Interesting prospect to replace the GS with the IS500 though. Pros and cons with that one but gets me thinking…..

^Agree. That Z is special. (The Baja is a somewhat cool..quirky car too).

The Baja is a fun car. I drove the Baja with the 2.5L Turbo motor which was the best spec for that model and was very similar to the one in my Legacy GT Wagon. I've had a 2004 WRX Wagon and a 2005 Legacy GT Wagon. I do miss them and the Legacy with snow tires when I lived in Chicagoland was invincible in the snow. I really miss that car, I used to embarrass lots of "faster" cars in the turns. To be fair I upgraded the suspension on it to JDM Spec parts which were superior to the wallowing american spec suspension. I do miss my Turbo Subaru's or my old 1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX that I sold when I got my Supra in 2002.
@GSDon I think we need pictures or we are going to have a hard time believing you have these cars. (I really just want to see pics of the Z!)
Interior space aside, the IS500 and GS F ride very similarly. So it should be an easy transition from the GS FSport. The AWD can be mostly mitigated by a set of good winters for the 500. (From what I’ve read, I escaped the snow many moons ago.) 😜
The Baja has been a great car. Got it new and have almost 160k and does awesome in the snow with all season tires. Can’t imagine snow tires! I would be a beast.
here’s some photos of my fake Z…LOL
if I replaced the GS I have other cars I could use in the snow. I rarely use the GS in the snow but I was nice when I had too having AWD.
Ditto what others are saying. Keep the 300ZX. It’s value will only go up so selling it to get an IS500 will cost you both the IS500’s depreciation as well as the lost 300ZX’s missed appreciation.
But don’t think twice about parting with the GS. You will instantly forget about it the moment you put your new IS500 into drive.
^^ What he said! Keep that red beauty but trade the GS for the IS and you will be set for life! I bought mine is 2022 and will be my forever car. Mine never sees rain, snow or wet roads...i put about 3000 to 4000 miles a year (spring to fall) and is mint!
Some of these vehicles from the early 90's are classics - this Nissan in question, the Supra, NSX, etc. Have a buddy who owns an NSX from that era and it is an incredible car (low centre of gravity, absolutely phenomenal steering feel, pin point handling). Just don't make cars like that anymore.
