Have a nice Passport Max 360 that came over from my old car I would like to hang up via Blend Mount. Was also looking to add a dashcam. Any recommendations for some high end dashcam options?
Hoping someone could point me to a vid or step-by-step showing how to take of this cover without breaking anything.
It is easy as grab 1 and just pull slide it against windshield towards the engine (towards the arrows). Then the whole thing should move little bit. Grab 2 and remove the it. Now, you can remove the whole thing. I might missed step or two. I did it like a year ago.
To tap, i didnt take good picture lol. I think i tapped 1 and 4th pins. Not too sure again. I measured voltages using multi meter.

I went with a fitcamx for mine. It looks OEM and you can't really tell it's there. Regardless of camera, the rear sunshade might interfere with rear mounting so you might have to get creative. I decided to just velcro it to the plastic above my rear view mirror. Seems to be working well enough and I'll probably mount it a little more securely eventually.
I also picked up a BlendMount and mirror tap for my Radenso. If you go with the BlendMount you might want to buy a few link extensions to make sure the radar detector gets pushed forward and down far enough, especially if you go with a fitcam. I need to buy at least one more link. Other than that I'm quite happy with the setup.

Do you have a picture of how you attached the rear cam with the sunshade?
I've used blend mount in the past, will likely go with that plus mirror tap.
That cover trim piece looks same as the one used on other Toyota/Lexus products. Seems to be identical as one on recent Lexus RX 350 and this Highlander.
I think I have a multimeter. But hopefully, I can find a pinout someplace or I assume there are instructions on how to find the proper pins using a multimeter. Otherwise, looks like a pretty easy install.
Oh one more thing... I noticed that there is a plastic clip around the mirror stem holding a cable in place. Do you just clamp the mirror mount around that or take it off?

Wow... that looks pretty great. Its more OEM than their OEM cam. Does that plug connect to existing harness? Slight concern... I would prefer the radar detector to be as far back and as immediately below the mirror as possible. With the size of Passport Max 360... it looks like that might be a challenge.

I didn't remove that. There is a small gap in between. I clipped it right behind that thing.

That works. No issue with accessing the mirror dimming button there? It so happens that I'm not a huge fan of that feature or the fact that its on by default. I typically tend to turn it off.
This is how blend mount shows their Escort mount. Doesn't quite fit what we have in the IS 500.

Might work better with your set-up and location. My issue was that radar signs weren't triggering it when going down a fairly steep hill and I assume the plastic is blocking it. No issues on relatively flat ground.

I took mine off. It's now in the random parts bin for me to find 10 years from now and wonder what the heck it is.

Here you go. It's not pretty but it worked well enough and gives a pretty good image out through the rear. I was a little worried about the little bit sticking down in front of the mirror, but I think I noticed it the first time I got in and then never again.

That feature didn't bother me. I never use that button so I put it close to the mirror but I can adjust it so that it won't block the button.

lol I wanted to remove it too but I was afraid it will be lost in my car parts bin box. Knowing me, I probably will throw it away after few years.
What do you guys think of Escort Max 360 (Pre-2019). It's what I already have available. It seems like Escort has moved past it as there are several more recent versions of 360 currently available. As they took down their 360 page, I can't seem to figure out how it stacks up to the more recent models. I suppose I can sell it and buy something more recent. But that will change my mounting requirements.
Has anyone ran the wiring of the rear dash camera to the back window? I'm having a hard time hiding the wire in the B pillar. Also the rear sunshade keeps hitting the cam too.

Yeah, I believe I ran it along the bottom of the interior instead of dealing with all the pillars. Unless you create a custom mount of the rear cam, you're going to have interference with the sunshade. My solution is to not use the sunshade.
