Default Launch Edition Steering Wheel + Window Trim

I've noticed some folks upgrading to different steering wheels and was curious if anyone purchased the Launch Edition steering wheel and window trim and installed it on a non-LE?

I think I found the part numbers with a LE VIN and a parts catalog, but just wanted to ask if anyone else has taken the leap.

Highly highly unlikely. The LE "ash wood" steering wheel and trim was a flop IMO. Wood is outdated and doesn't fit the style of this car at all. LE owners will say otherwise since they gotta hang their hat on something for spending an extra $6k.

The owners who upgrade their steering wheels opt for carbon fiber with better leather and grips - form and function. The LE steering wheel by comparison is a complete joke.

im hanging my launch edition hat on my alcantara interior. I couldn’t care less about the wood. The seats, door cards, and center console were worth 6k to me alone. Not to mention DHP is standard, BBS is standard, and my Neato plackard with number 312 on it.

What are you on about? A flop? What’s wrong with the wood trim? I’m with everyone else here that likes the limited edition interior and bits. Bad take, my guy.

Find me literally one person who installed a LE steering wheel on a non LE.

Ironically, the OP asked the wrong question. He meant to ask, who with a LE has replaced their wood wheel with a carbon fiber one? The answer is probably a lot of people, which means he can probably source one and do what he was originally asking.

Given that you're talking about spending probably a $1,000+, it's not gonna be many if any people. That doesn't support your claim that the trim was a flop.

I doubt a lot of people have replaced the LE wheel, and even less because they thought the trim was a flop.

You can take the Prius owner out of the Prius, but you can't take the Prius out of the Prius owner.

Can you tell us how many of the 500 launch editions have installed a new steering wheel? Unless at least 250 launch editions have a different steering wheel I wouldn't call the steering wheel a "flop"

I think im a little bit more level headed than some of the other responses here, but I have 2 main, maybe 3 main reasons I didnt/dont want to install an aftermarket wheel. I had one in my RC for reference.

1: The way the hand bolsters are laid out are too small for my hands and makes them sore if I have my hands at 9 and 3. Probably due to the arthritis in both of my hands from working on the RC and the Tacoma more than the steering wheels fault, but alas it's the main reason I personally didnt do it. I'm 21 FYI, with Athritits, LOL.

2: The LE is special because it's the LE. Changing out LE exclusive parts doesn't make sense to me, otherwise why buy the LE?

3: My aftermarket wheel in the RC wore pretty bad on the drivers side. The leather just wasn't suuuuuper high quality. Among other issues of retaining steering wheel heat, retaining LTA and steering wheel vibration, which some wheels support, so not really an issue there but it is something to think about.

the only reason I bought the LE was for the alcantra/pleather combo. the wood is a nice touch but, meh; it is better than the standard wheel.
