Default Rustproofing your IS 500

Would you guys recommend rustproofing your IS 500 in preparation for winter? I was looking at Corrosion Free and read a lot of good reviews about them. Since this would be my first Lexus and I don’t have any experience on rustproofing, I’d like to know the community’s thoughts on this. Thanks! 👍🏼

I did personally, but it depends on your area and garage situation.

This was recommended to me as a solid choice in New England. This company franchised out the service so there’s likely a similar option in your area.

That said, best case would to just park it during the cold months.

Mines an RX, but the principle is the same and yes, I rustproof mine. I did it myself by applying some Dynax wax products to the underside, cavities and wheels wells behind the liners. They're easy to apply, as the spray can comes with a failrly long 360 degree lance. Once that's dried I give everything a good spray of ACF 50 for good measure. The Dynax is good for 2 or 3 years, but I reapply the ACF 50 every year around Sept/Oct, as it takes less than half an hour.

The other thing I do in winter is, when I wash the car, I stick a cheap lawn sprinkler on the end of a hose and run it under the car to periodically wash off any salt.

Of course there are plenty of places that will do it for you, at a cost.

Thanks! I found a car shop near me that does rustproofing with excellent reviews.

I wish I could, but this would be my daily driver. Appreciate your feedback.

Your response is extremely detailed and I thank you for that. I might not be able to replicate your process, but washing the bottom of the car frequently during winter is something I will keep in mind.
