Visiting from the GS F side. My 2020's low pressure pump went in early June. Towed to Lexus. Waited almost six weeks for the part. Car sat outside the entire time.
They replaced it last week, but it had a 'defective seal', and is now back at the dealer.

Sorry to see this. I agree with you. Lexus should stand behind their products. It's not normal for fuel pumps to just randomly fail. It's one of those things that can literally strand you.
That is super interesting how the video in that thread showed the sound suddenly going away after switching gas. I had been running Kroger gas in mine until I realized Kroger isn't Top Tier. (For some reason I had convinced myself it was until I decided to double-check recently. Anyway...) Outside of that, I usually end up putting in Chevron or Quik Trip. I haven't noticed anything, but my car is still a baby with just 4,500 miles.

Right! I came from an E60 550i and that thing was an absolute disaster in terms of maintenance and leaks and ridiculous things breaking, but it never left me on the side of the road.
Lexus should not be allowing this to happen to their customers. This was also my very first dealership experience with Lexus. Not great.

Why isn't Lexus recalling these?
Lexus did recall some cars for their fuel pumps. My ES was recalled for the fuel pump. I guess this problem isn't bad enough?
There has only been one person on the IS forum with a fuel pump issue, and had the issue twice, so I honestly wouldn't doubt something else is going on. When the only person to have the issue has it twice it's a red flag to me.

Agreed, sorry this has happened. There’s too many things going on here and there, I wish Lexus would just put them to bed already.
Gas-wise, I shudder when I see +good+ cars at ANY grocery store pump. The very idea is just…::shudder::
I only use BP & Shell. If I’m in a pinch, Citgo & Amoco are business cousins to BP. (At least they used to be.) If I’m in a super-duper pinch, then Chevron. Their cleaning additives lower fuel economy. Then again, I’m only getting 3mpg as it is…so I might move them up to simply Pinch Level. 😂

I was going to say the same thing. They seem to address these issues with other models, but are slow as hell when it comes to the IS. 🤬
Hi, OP, did the dealer just replace the fuel pump and things are back to normal? Under warranty?
I just had mine die today (LE #25). Hadn’t had any issue till now (15k miles). Spent 2 hours on the side of the road with my 2 kids waiting for a tow. Not how I planned to spend Sunday afternoon. Dealer says it is the fuel pump and not under warranty as the car shouldn’t be run low on fuel (I had 7 miles of range and was in sight of the gas station).

I'd be fighting that one... fuel does cool the pump, but running it low on gas once shouldn't kill it. I'd be asking for proof of that diagnosis.

I would 100% fight this and get corporate involved. Ask them to show you where in the owners manual it says you can’t run it “low on fuel”. It doesn’t. And that’s without touching the topic that you probably had 40-60 miles of range actually left when the car said 7 miles because there is a reserve allowance. Not to mention that at this point it’s safe to say that at least a handful of 500s have had fuel pump failures.

+1, tons of cars on the road are run on E and don't die and leave you on the side of the road, let alone a Lexus. The dealership should know there's an issue with the fuel pumps by now if they don't have their heads in the sand.
Today my 2022 IS500 LE w/ 13k miles stalled out on me today while driving. I pulled over, turned car off , then tried to restart but it wont start. Had it towed to Lexus so waiting on what they say.
For anyone that's experienced this problem or needed fuel pump replacement, please submit a complaint/report to the NHTSA (https://www.nhtsa.gov/report-a-safety-problem#index). This is how recall campaigns start after enough reports are received.
Even if the problem is exhibited with just a handful of cars right now, keep in mind that most car buyers don't use car forums so there could be many more with this issue that we haven't heard about. There also aren't too many of these cars so even a handful is worrying.
I would also suggest that you mention in your report verbiage that the car "left you and your kids stranded on the side of the road", "shutoff while amidst high speed congested traffic", "had to be towed after you waited for several hours in extreme cold and darkness"...things of that nature.

^^ Bummer I bought my previous LE almost 2 years ago & I put 19k miles on it never turned off.
Mine neither, thank God, but we know these issues are out there. It’s a 3-legged stool:
-Front Apron Separation
-O2 sensor
-Fuel Pump
I haven’t experienced either, again thank God, but I feel like they’re hanging over our heads. It was a great idea to post the complaint, the fuel pump issue worries me the most out of the three.
