I have been complaining to my wife that the front of my car looked like it had a bigger wheel gap than the rear. I measured today and the rear of my car is 1/4 - 3/8 of an inch lower than the front. Empty trunk, empty seats.

Does anyone else's car sag a little in the rear?

 

Let me guess…she doesn’t care? 1/4-3/8” seems within tolerance. Mine doesn’t appear noticeable but is probably the same as yours. Maybe it’s designed like that because the front wheel needs to turn. At least you don’t have those saggy RSR springs, which make it 5x worse…literally!!!!

 

95bat - I will check and measure when I get home from work. If mine has it, it is so minor and not noticeable to the naked eyes - I am OCD with a balanced wheel gap and this car never triggered any signals. As macmaster said, now the imbalance I have seen with the RSR lowering spring is atrocious. I wonder if that gap was ever fixed with the OP who posted his pics?

 

lol she couldn't see it (and probably doesn't care). Maybe seeing the pics of those springs made me focus on it more when it has been there all along.
Awesome, thank you! I am OCD with the wheel gap too, especially being in CA. A lot of people do the "California lean" or some crap like that where they lower the back of their truck, but not the front. It's the dumbest thing ever and now I feel like I have it on my car. I have to get an oil change in a couple months so I'll have them look it over, but like both of you said they'll probably tell me it is within spec.

 

The rear wheel gap is smaller than the front, and was on my IS 350 as well. I think it's by design. I never found it super noticeable though.

On a slight downhill, as below, it evens out. This photo was taken when my IS 500 had only about 1000 miles on it.



And here was my IS 350, which was still fairly new at the time of photo. I think the photo is ever so slightly rotated to the right - maybe I've been subconsciously doing so to correct for the rear "sag".



Honestly, I don't think the rear is sagging; rather, I think the bodywork itself is creating that illusion.

 

^^ Aww the fond memories of your Iridium - It looked really good but I think the wheels is why I love your Iridium so much. For me, I am soooooooo OCD with wheel designs and the 350 wheels are just so elegant IMO.

I have to remember that line when my wife tells me that she feels my rear is sagging (lol) - "It's my bodywork that creates that illusion"

 

If your rear end is sagging should you see the doctor or the gym?

95bat - I totally had forgotten to report back to you on this thread - My apologies. So I just measured from the edge of the fender to the wheel hub and all 4 corners are at 15 inches so mine seems perfect. Visually, it looked fine but I wanted to do the measurements to confirm my eyes weren't failing me as it's bad enough other body parts do (lol)

 

Thanks for measuring! I finally got out to detail my car and measured as you did. I'm at 15 3/8 front and 15 1/8 rear. I am guessing it's fine, but I'm going to mention it to the dealer during my next oil change. The weird thing is my wife, who knows nothing about cars, said my car feels floaty like it's not connected to the road before I even mentioned the wheel gap.
