Default Swap head unit with newer version?

Hey guys my radio head unit on my 2014 IS needs to be replaced. The current one has a Face ID # P10433. Replacing with same ID is more expensive than newer head units with different ID’s. Will replacing head unit with different Face ID work?

Thanks for the insight,
Frank

I think your referring to the physical screen. The one that displays navigation, radio, etc. If so then you aren't able to directly just swap over the newer screen (the larger one) onto it. If I remember correctly you need to have the correct radio (2017+) as well to go with the newer screen. Also I think there is an extra wire you might need but I could be wrong.

Thanks, but it’s not the screen that needs replacing. It’s the main head unit just below the climate controls.
Has anyone replaced one with a different Face ID # with a newer version?
