Default Spoiler on 2021 IS350 Question

Hello. Just purchased a CPO 2021 IS350 with the carbon fiber trunk spoiler and noticed a small gap on one of the ends where you can see the tape has separated slightly and some light is present. My question is does anyone know if these are bolted on (factory or port option?) or just taped on? My preference is bolted, but that also means there's a hole that moisture could possibly enter through this small gap so I'll want to get this fixed if so. Thanks in advance for any help!

It is a mixture of bolts, clips, and adhesive. You can reference a diagram here: MUDGUARD & SPOILER. 2022 Lexus IS 350 LUXURY | Lexus Parts & Accessories Online
The carbon fiber spoiler is technically a factory option but it actually gets installed at the port. A decent amount of 2021s have reported their spoiler warping how you described and they had them replaced under warranty. You should still have warranty so it might be worth doing that. I personally have not experienced that on my 2022 IS350.

Is it the silver one you bought from the lexus of easton? If that the one? I saw the left one is lift up already when I check that one out, but you can take to the dealer and complain them they will fix it under warranty, lexus of easton they are very good with that, good luck

No, I purchased this from Pohanka Lexus in VA but I am in NE Ohio so will probably have to take it to Metro Lexus in Cleveland. I've driven to Cbus to look at some cars at that dealership before, so close guess lol!

Thanks! I didn't see anyone else posting about this when I did a quick search but good information for sure. The '23s aren't coming with this specific spoiler any more, it's just the plain black one, so maybe that's the way to go if they replace it. I'll see what the dealership has to say.

The carbon fiber spoiler was exclusive to the Dynamic Handling Package which only existed for 2021 and 2022. For 2023 they replaced it with the F Sport Handling Package which omitted some options. Personally, I would not settle for a gloss black replacement for a couple of reasons. The gloss black spoiler is cheaper and less rare. Even the IS500s never were offered the carbon fiber spoiler. The CF spoiler alone is $1000.

All good points. I'll need to know that any issues were fixed on a replacement though, so I'm not dealing with this again after the warranty expires.

I’ve had my 2021 CF spoiler replaced twice. From my understanding it’s a common issue with the original CF spoiler. Luckily, the second replacement used a different bolt design. The original only had bolts in the center and 3M tape to the edges but after 6 months it would flare up. The second one had an updated design for the bolts on the end to prevent the annoying flare. Haven’t had any issues since! Here’s a pic for reference. Lmk if you have any questions! Good luck!

Interesting.. did you use warranty to replace it or just bought a separate set?

Well, I'm finally getting this replaced under warranty. I have the new part (updated with the two extra bolts) and will be dropping the car off at the Lexus body shop next week. It took a series of dealer visits and phone calls to make this happen, but they finally agreed that a replacement is warranted.

Sorry to necro the thread, but do any of you guys have pictures of what the warpage looks like? I want to double check if the CF spoiler on my 21 is considered warped since there is a bit of a gap on the ends, but I'm not sure if I can see any tape lifting or not yet.

Unfortunately I have a 22 so let’s try the inverse. Can you post yours and I’ll see if it looks like mine?

It is definitely a port installed option, bc my 2018 spoiler install was 'stopped' at the port. Maybe its an install issue they are having.
