Default Sound Deadening

Hello, I got a lot of left over sound deadening from my previous car and wondering if there are any recommended place to add some sound deadening.
I don't have subs, just the Mark Levinson audio. 2015 IS350
Thank you

Not much you'll be able to do as the "sound deadening" of a given passenger car is deep-baked into the engineering-BIW using FA techniques. And no "dynamat" isn't really sound deadening, at least not in the way 99% of forum/car people think it is. It is largely for panel resonance and audio efficiency to some degree. Stuff that's actually engineered to block road noise, well is 1) expensive and 2) takes up a lot of space you won't have. And even if you did have the space, you wouldn't know where it would be effective since you by definition wouldn't have access to Lexus's highly secretive and proprietary test data obtained by 7-figure supercomputers. So in other words, you'd be guessing where to put it. you can try and get lucky, but you likely would not make any meaningful difference that would have justified the time and money spent. Not to mention weight added. The best way to quiet your car is to get a good set of tires... and maybe turn the music up a bit.

you also have to ask yourself what's your goal. you can put some of that rubber stuff behind the speakers but i can tell you most lexus models already have it from the factory. i forgot if the 3IS does. i believe it does IIRC since I had the door cars of my 3IS off and added a couple more small patches of the mat just to prevent the door skin from flexing so much.

The best way to sound deaden is to buy about 1000 Bose noise canceling headphones. Then remove the foam from each earmuff. Then open the door panel and glue the foam pieces to the inside. It's expensive but have you ever heard Bose noise cancelling? Imagine that in your car.

If only it was _that easy_, but not exactly cost-effective.

In all seriousness, I wonder if it would be possible to somehow retrofit a noise-cancelling system to the car that operates through the speakers. That exists. But probably takes way more engineering than a DIYer could manage.

Fantastic idea! With luxury manufacturers running out of features to separate them from the pack, Noise cancellation could be the next big thing for interiors!

A few things they’ll need to figure out first, e.g. probably don’t want to suppress emergency vehicle sirens, vehicle horns telling you to move your *** when the light turns green, and I’m not sure about the human scream sounds from the pedestrians you just ran over…

All of those things are probably loud enough to still hear through noise cancellation.
