Default Hazed/Cloudy Gauge Cluster

Went to car wash today. They spayed something on the gauge cluster and left some residue. Used 70% alcohol pads get it off. But now I see some cloudy marks on the bottom of the gauge cluster. Buying plastic X cleaner/polisher. Wondering is it safe for it ? Is our gauge cluster coated? Learned my lesson , IS 350 F Sport, brand new car, less than 1500 miles.

On the F Sport, the screen is pretty easily scratched. I usually only use a Swiffer duster to clean the screen unless I specifically notice I can't remove whatever is on it. If you are going to clean it, I would suggest using a brand-new microfiber towel with water or interior detailer and to be gentle.

in the past i've used a polish for watch crystals called polywatch and it's worked well in removing light scuffs and scratches. i had used it on some of my watches before and then read about someone using it on gauge cluster plastics, so i tried it and it worked.

This should also work on the clear plastic over the shifter's gear lights, right? (the rectangular clear plastic piece to the left of the gear lever, where it shows PRND and the lights next to those drive modes)

The residue from that place was probably some sort of mild cleaner or worse yet an armorall like product. What caused the hazing is that used 70% alcohol directly on the clear plastic gauge cluster. That stuff is pretty potent and will haze clear plastic. Just use some ScratchX or Meguiars polish on it. It’s already ruined so it’ll either work or it wouldn’t. You can always get a replacement screen. I don’t think think they’re that much, maybe <$100 and the install isn’t that hard, there’s a few DIY instructions here and on YouTube.

As mentioned above, plastic is most likely ruined. I always tell dealership or who's in my car 'do not touch the gauge cluster'. Go on discountpartsmonster, I believe I purchased the part $50 shipped, but that involves taking the cluster out and swapping the plastic. Very worth it IMO, looks so clean with a fresh, new piece of plastic

should be able to buff it with the right tools like a dremel tool + some polishing compound.
