Default Please help me choose an exhaust.

I know, another exhaust thread. I've been searching and reading old threads and YouTube and probably have analysis paralysis. I was set on buying an F Sport Performance exhaust, and I did, but lo and behold Lexus superseded the part for the 21-22 models and now the tips don't sit right on the 14-20.

I'm not going to spend $2500 on an Ark exhaust, and there just aren't very many options left for our cars these days. I'm mainly looking for sound: a little more volume, but I have almost no tolerance for drone or rasp.

So I'm looking at the following:
Tanabe/Revel Medallion $1000
Borla S Type $1000
Invidia Q300 $600
Rev9 $385 (Ark knockoff)

Tanabe seems the safest best though the tamest sound. I don't love the rolled tips of the Invidia or Borla (prefer double wall slash cut). Rev9 seems like a gamble but the limited reviews I found seem pretty positive.

Anyone able to stack rank these in terms of volume and drone? Any input world be greatly appreciated.

Go with Tanabe. Invidia and Borla don't sound good in my opinion. Rev9 is poor quality and bad drone. I am happy with my Tanabe. Initial drone goes away after 2-300 miles and is very tame unless you step on it.

Sorry, don't know how I got into an IS thread... Love IS's but responded something unrelated thinking this was an LS 460 thread.

Please ignore.

I have the Tanabe, or as it’s now called the “Revel” exhaust for my 3IS. I’m not sure if it’s something to do with it being rebranded and manufactured through Revel but it’s not a true quad exhaust. I can provide pics later about what I’m saying, but it’s quad tips welded in front of single outlet mufflers - disappointing for the price paid. I’m not sure if this is the same for the user above, if your Tanabe is different and is a true quad exhaust than that would mean it’s no longer the same quality. Also I’ve driven about 3,000 miles already with my exhaust and there is drone while accelerating (I did check for leaks, none found). It’s tolerable for me because I’ve had cars that were louder in the past. It isn’t too bad, but definitely didn’t expect it to have the drone it does.

EDIT: I meant quad tips/exhaust

Ark is having a sale now if you can swing $2000.

I just found a thread about the Tanabe: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/per...p-exhaust.html

I found the Revel on Topendms: https://www.topendmotorsports.com/le...less-19116.php

They look like the same setup to me. Each muffler has two separate outlets. Is there anything different with yours?

Uploaded some pics below of my Revel, check them out. I like the look of it at first so I kept it, but I know it’s not a true quad exhaust. You can get the same with the other dual exhausts with single tips on each side if you cut and weld double tips on each lol so I was disappointed that there weren’t two separate holes on each muffler. If you’re driving behind the car you can see it’s one exit for each muffler, so it does end up looking a bit cheap imo but others might not care. I’ll keep it for now and probably sell it down the line.

The close-up shots helped, and I definitely see what you mean.

The Tanabe before it was rebranded as Revel had the same “single” outlet with dual tips welded on each side. I masked off and painted the back of the muffler inside the tips and it looks like a normal dual outlet now. However, I just noticed you have a 21+ so you would have to run the dual tip anyways, not the quad tip.

I personally love my borla s-type mufflers. Perfect balance of loud and quiet and absolutely 0 drone, but I understand many people prefer to install Japanese brand exhausts on these cars.
