Default Staggered tire one squre wheel

Hello guys, I like to do some things different than other people.

Have you ever put staggered tire on square rims. For what? For the look and for sell back the rims
exampl: front 225/45 17*8,5 - rear 255/40 17*8,5

If you know this setup, have you got a picture?

You can 100% do that and I think it's a good idea. I went from OEM staggered (255/35/18 in the rear & 225/40/18) front to my aftermarket wheels 19 x 9 all around, 235/35/19. The car does not handle as good as it does on a staggered set up. I'm trying to go back to staggered because that's how much I notice the difference. If you have AWD, I would try to stay within the diameter range.

You would probably need to reduce the sidewall when you go up to that size so as I mentioned above the stock size is 255/35/18. The sidewall number is 5 less than the fronts. But you have to keep in mind, you can't rotate the tires anymore

Ok , I would like to see some car with this setup. You said to have a big wheel for rear only? Like front 225/45/17 , rear 255/40/18. I don t think it s a good idea. I have a RWD. Maybe a widther tire on rear with the same width of rims look like the same width front and rear visualy.

No, I have the same 19x9 wheel at all 4 corners and I'm running a squared set up (235/35/19) at all 4 corners = squared.

When I was on the OEM set up, from factory, the front wheels are 18x8 front, tire size 225/40/18 and the rear is 18x8.5 255/35/18 = staggered.

So what I'm saying is, from factory, they do offer staggered set up and the car handles significantly better like this versus having the same tire size every corner (squared)

I know you're asking about an 8.5 wide rim with staggered set up, yes, it's possible. The sizing issue mostly comes with IS's with AWD because the AWD system is able to detect significant changes in the wheel diameter. I don't think that's an issue in RWD so you don't really even need to be concerned about that unless you're doing a really crazy set up, just an FYI.

I ran the OEM tires sizes on a 18x8.5 square wheels setup for multiple years without any issue on an AWD IS. Your's being RWD, it's even less of an issue if you have a small difference in rolling diameter front to back.

The difference between 225/45/17 vs 255/40/17 is less than 0,08inch. It's about the width of the rims with different tire width.
