Be careful when removing and installing the door panels to not drop the panel, I had one slip, that may have been what stressed/pulled the lock cables ball end at the latch out of the plastic lever inside the latch and gave me difficulty unlocking the door afterward. I chose to replace the latch because I thought the ball snapped into the lever very loosely, I was worried it may happen again and make the door very difficult to get unlocked again, I was lucky and got it to unlock and open the 1st time it happened by rapidly cycling the unlock switch on the front door. When my door panel slipped out of my hands it pulled both cables out of the handle, maybe over stressing the cables snap in connection at the latch. That door had acted weirdly before the speaker change so I’m not positive it wasn’t already partially dislodged, it’s perfect now.

I've replaced the stock rear speakers and fitted some butyl rubber vibration dampening sheets, and the sound is noticeably better. I previously had an issue where the sound had become too forward biased after I had replaced the stock dash speakers. Not so anymore with the 6.5" Alpine speakers in the rear.

By the way, the stock rear speakers had no tweeters. It's no wonder that the sound was so poor for passengers in the back.

I'd now like to replace the stock sub or add an underseat sub because there is a noticeable dip in the low end that makes some music sound lacking (i.e. "thin"). I'll measure the FR with my UMIK to get a better idea of what's going on when time permits. Has anyone fitted an underseat sub to their 3IS or replaced their stock sub with a shallow mount 8" (I'm thinking 4ohm DVC wired for 2ohm nominal)? Any issues to be aware of (e.g. non-standard mounts for the stock sub)?

I've been meaning to upgrade my speakers for a minute, but other priorites have it on the back burner.
While searching the forums for info I came across the Kicker 48CWRT CompRT 8" Subwoofer, https://www.clublexus.com/forums/bui...l#post10791427

Some pics post install there, as well as a link to sixbangers extensive audio build post.

For an oem replacement, I'd probably go for these myself. Dunno about under the rear seats- can't recall seeing any builds.

Thanks I've seen that thread.

I'm leaning towards replacing the stock sub with a JBL stadium 810 (selected for shallow-ish mount and low resonant frequency). I'll have to add an amp, but I should be able to hide it away like @wsvc206 did with his audio processor.

Also toying with the idea of mounting tiny midrange drivers next to the sub to fill out the sound. Non-ML really is trash tier audio with no tweeters/speakers in the door or rear deck.

Default Harness Question

@wsvc206 - Did you retain steering wheel audio control with this harness? I’m currently looking to put in a Helix V8 DSP Mk2 into my 2023 is 300 nonML but I haven’t found any modules for the pioneer amp, only the listed harness. It’s my first build like this so I’m trying to keep it clean.
