Default New Guy's Questions

Hey all,
I have deposited $1k on a 2022 IS300 V6 that is still at the port in FL. I live in TN. On my buyers order, the sales manager snuck in $3000 for Lexus Pre-Paid Maintenance. Guess he didnt think I'd notice. Anyways, that's not a contract and im not worried, But my question is do you think PPM is worth the $$? I see 5000 miles service is like $291.
I drive 30k per year, 106 miles round trip just to get to work

I just bought a 2022 IS300 as well. I declined the warranty and maintenance plans. I understand the maintenance, even at the dealer, isn't that expensive. How long does the plan they gave you last? $3000 is a lot of money - is it life time fluid changes and tire rotations or something along those lines?

Either way, congrats on the new car! What color combo?

I don't have it yet but it's the Atomic Silver/Black interior.
Yeah the price could be worth it depending on what's included and for how long. As I mentioned, i currently drive 30K per year so I have to weight the costs. Hopefully it arrives soon as it's already in the US.

I'd find out what it means, then figure out how many times it'll be serviced a year and at what cost (there are different services which have different costs), and see if it'll add up to $3k.

That's the plan. I've sold cars for a living so i know the deal. Dealerships dont include anything unless its beneficial to them. So my guess is this is totally not worth it and will be eliminated from my finance contract when the car arrives.
This is my first Toyota/Lexus brand vehicle so i have no idea what the maintenace will cost. I plan on calling the service department tomorrow to get an idea what mainteance typically Costs. I am downloading the IS maintenance schedule in the meantime since I don't have an owner manual as I don't have the car yet 😀

I'm curious regarding what comes with said package as well, so I looked it up. Link below. Assuming that it covers pretty much whatever you need it to up to $3k. Based of the link below, it appears that these are offered in terms of length of ownership or a timeframe versus a dollar amount, thus my assumption.

Welcome to the Lexus family and congrats on the car! I started with my first "luxury" car as a 2IS. Since then, I've owned Infiniti and BMW, only interested in one Merc and I can't afford it.....but I keep coming back to Lexus. All around great cars and every experience at the dealers has been top notch. Not sure what part of TN you are in, but Lexus of Knoxville is great to work with. I'm midway between Knoxville and Nashville.

Ok. I live in Clarksville, but work in Nashville and thats where im buying the car from. I've always been a Nissan/Infiniti guy but I'm venturing out now. Yea I saw the plans by years on the Lexus official site. Even with 30k miles driven per year $3,000 is too much for maintenance. Can't imagine Lexus being that much to maintain. And if it is, then maybe I've selected the wrong vehicle lol. Likewise the only Merc I'm interested in is the G63 AMG which is completely out of budget.

So I just called the dealer I'll be servicing with just to ask what a 30k service costs. Here is the breakdown:
Preferred: $1080
Standard: $880
Value: $616
So I think "preferred " is the one deslers shove in your face as "dealer recommended service" which means absolutely nothing to me. It just them doing unnecessary items to garner more income. I will know specifically what this PPM entails when the car actually arrives and i go to do paperwork

Yeah, that's crazy. This is my second IS and my son had a 1IS. These cars are not expensive to maintain or repair, in my experiences anyway. I can totally relate on the G63. I've wanted a C63 AMG for years, but also know the costs involved. Definitely one of those just because you can afford the price of the car doesn't mean you can afford to own it type situation.
