Default Help with new wheels and TPMS

Just wanted to see what the updated status for having a 2nd set of TPMS is.

I have a 2015 is350 fsport AWD.

I want to rotate wheels so I'd like to get a 2nd set for my summer wheels
  1. Will these work?
    Amazon Amazon
  2. What is the best solution for having 2 sets? What does everyone here do when they rotate wheels for the season? Is it true that you just need to program the 2nd set as a different car and it will automatically work when you switch wheels?

Basically two choices:
1. Buy programmable TPM units and program them to match your existing units.
2. Install the TPM codes into your car each time you swap wheels/tires.

Option 2 is what I do, with an ATEQ TPM Quickset tool.
I have both sets of TPM codes loaded into the ATEQ, then I simply load the appropriate set when I change over. Takes like 30 seconds each time I change wheels/tires.

That's basically the 1st method posted by kj07xk. You program the new sensors with your existing sensors IDs, so when you swap them, no need to reprogram anything.

AFAIK, the link you posted should work, they are 315mhz.

The sensors that I have cloned don’t work with newer Lexus. From what I have noticed most models that show actual wheel location require a more complicated sensor. If you find something capable of cloning those I’d like to hear about it. Is it only the older model IS that allow programming a second set of tpms id’s?

^^ yes, only 2IS had the possibility to have 2 sets of sensors programmed at the same time.

I do agree that clonable sensors aren't the best option for a 3IS as in most cases, they won't show the pressures in the dash, but the system still works. For 2021+, they can be relearn, and aftermarket sensors looks to be ok, at least in my case, they work great (supposedly the same model as on my 2018, which didn't show the pressures)

So is cloning the same as programming? Is using the ATEQ tool considered "cloning" ?

I thought cloning might be different where once it's done, you can swap the wheels without doing anything else at all.
But with the ATEQ quickset method, when you swap, you have to just do the "relearning" using the tool.

I actually wouldn't mind cloning if it just meant I wouldn't see the tire pressures. I just don't want to do any extra steps after swapping my wheels. Would tire pressure show with the original sensors? And with the cloned sensor it doesn't? Or do both sets no longer get tire pressure?

the verbiage gets weird between programming, relearning and cloning but they are technically all different. Cloning is just what it sounds like. I’m not sure you can clone the sensors for your car because I’ve only done it the right way that shows the pressures, but if they are cloned the original sensors will always show the pressures.

How do you do it the right way? Is it possible to clone for a 2015 IS350 F?

The right way is to use the correct sensors no cloning. Let me get with my vendor tomorrow and see if there is another way.
